    My Target Field Pics

I toured Target Field today and it is absolutely beautiful. It is probably better than I thought it would be and I had really high expectations. There are a few really unique aspects of it and I can tell it will be an awesome ballpark for a long while. It is a great mix of modern ballpark amenities while paying homage to former Minnesota Twins greats and past ballparks.

Below is a link (I hope it works as I've never used Flickr) to some of my favorite pics. I tried to get pics from all around the stadium and capturing some of the cooler parts of the interior. I figured some of the guys who love stadiums might appreciate them. If anyone wants any copies of pics without Flickr's limitations, let me know.

I didn't know there was a video screen on the right-center wall. Really changed my opinion for the better on their new stadium.

Nice looking stadium. Be interesting to see Twins games outdoors this year.

Place looks great! Gotta say though, the outfield views make the park look a little small, but aside from that, it's gonna be great to see the Twins in a new stadium.

Oh, and LOVE the Kirby Puckett wooden wall.

Not bad. Beautiful architecture and exteriors (based on other photos and designs), but for the sake of visual glamor alone I would have cut off the upper deck in LCF and added something else out there on the walkway, maybe a little high-rise building with seating or suites included.

I love that picture of Kirby. Who was the other guy on the other wall like Puckets?

Wow even in real life stadiums you are the same way as video game stadiums.

                    Love the pics!

Yeah the outfield walls make it look a bit small (what's the dimensions?) but I like it as it gives the park a quirkiness that makes it stick out from the other recent ballparks. People complain about the cookie cutter stadiums of the '70s but in a number of ways the parks built in the last 15 years share a ton of similarities that make them indistinguishable as well. So at least Target Field looks different.

Really love that big old Twins logo in the outfield as well as the pictures inside the ballparks in tribute to past players.

One question I noticed the outfield videoscreen saying that the Gophers were playing against LA state, are the Gophers going to play their baseball there as well?

The wall dimensions aren't too terribly different than the dome's, with the exception of the foul ground area which is considerably smaller.

This is off of memory (and could be found with a simple search) but I think LF was 339 ft, left power alley was 370something, center field had one spot at 411 and another at 408 and then right field is 328. The stadium is on a tiny footprint and some are calling it the most urban ballpark in all of baseball. I think it will end up being neutral with the lack of foul territory down the line helping out batters.

No, the Twins allowed the Gophers to play a game there to test out the stadium. The Gophers still play at the Metrodome.

That was Rod Carew. The signature got cut off in that picture unfortunately.

I don't think they could've done anything like this due to the site that they built the park on. That thing is surrounded by downtown beyond right field and then highway and a large recycling type plant.
