    Cryolemon's Pat Venditte thread 2k10

Thought it would be a good day to start this since he made a Spring Training appearance for the Yankees:

I think he'll start in Tampa, but get promoted pretty quick if he pitches like he did last year there.

You'd think he'd start off in AA...

It's rather silly to keep holding him back. He should start in AA. He's already 24. Are they waiting for him to be 28 to reach the majors?

MLB teams just make very little sense to me. As Rob Neyer said: "You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." (that's becoming my sig).

Why waste a guy away that has shown talent to get hitters out? Find out what he can do in AA right now and continue to promote him. If he's nothing but a stage show for them then there's nothing to lose.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

My guess is that they want to see if he carries on where he left off last season, and if he does they'll promote him.

He pitched 3 perfect innings with 4 K's last night and got a save:
