Re: Do you do it? Attending games alone
I did it on a solo road trip last year (O's, Nats, Phils, both Chicago teams), but I wouldn't do it on a regular basis. Much more fun with a few friends.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. Re: Do you do it? Attending games alone
No, never have. Probably wouldn't for just a regular season game, but if say, it was game 7 of the world series, I had the money to get a ticket but couldn't find anyone to go, maybe. If it's an intense atmosphere I think it would still be fun, but if its just a normal game I think it would get boring.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Re: Do you do it? Attending games alone
I live about 40 minutes from Miller Park and I have never even thought about this.
But now that you got me thinking, I may just do this when I have nothing else to do, just drive to the ballpark and see a game myself. It wouldnt bother me one bit, in fact, the idea kind of intrigues me...Comment

Re: Do you do it? Attending games alone
Man, enjoy it while you can. You only live once. I never have attended a game by myself I usually go with my 17 year old son, but he has moved to California for school, so looks like I have to replace him with my 7 year old son who has an interest in the gameThe poster formerly know as "FLIGHTWHITE"Comment

Re: Do you do it? Attending games alone
I've done it a few times. I like going with friends and stuff but when I go by myself I'm much more into the game.
The first time I did it I felt kinda stupid because I felt like people were looking at me and laughing but now I just say **** it, I don't care what people think. I'm there to enjoy the game.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Re: Do you do it? Attending games alone
I do it all the time...last year went to about 20 Padres games alone. It's more fun when you have some friends, especially if they are into baseball, but I often can't find people to go with and I enjoy it just as much by myself.
I have two season tickets this year and my plan is to take my son to most of the games if I can..."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

Re: Do you do it? Attending games alone
I was out in San Francisco for work a couple years ago and went to Giants-Rockies by myself. I figured since I got a free flight out there and a per diem that I'd get the best seat available. 11 rows up between home and third, and Lincecum was pitching. It was kinda nice just roaming around the stadium checking everything out. Then I asked this guy and his son that were sitting next to me what the best public transportation to take back to my hotel was (it was about 25 miles away), and they gave me a ride because it was on their way back to San Jose where they lived.
If I lived in a city that had at least a AAA team, I'd probably go to a bunch of games by myself. I like to keep score, so I'd keep myself entertainedComment

Re: Do you do it? Attending games alone
I actually prefer to go to most athletic events by myself.
There are only two people I would've gone with me to Pasadena: my mom and my best friend. My mom couldn't go because of work/business, and my best friend didn't want to shell out that kind of money since Texas isn't his favorite team. So I went to the BCS Title game by myself...and enjoyed it.
Most people annoy me anyways. They want to leave when the game may be a blowout on top of the fact most of them think with emotion and zero logic when it comes to playcalls/penalties/etc.Rice Owls - Houston Astros/Dynamo/Rockets/Texans - Arsenal - PSGComment

Re: Do you do it? Attending games alone
My wife and I had season tickets to MSU football games this year as she is doing her Vet internship here. Luckily we were able to get student tickets so even at 28yo it was still a good time to sit in the student section. We had one game that she couldn't go to this year because of work that she insisted I go to without her. I went and I didn't have a very good time. Sure I got to watch more of the game I guess, but I guess I just enjoy it more with her then I do by myself.Golf: Bubba

Re: Do you do it? Attending games alone
Preferably I'd go with at least one other person. But like others have said, it really depends on how far away you live from the stadium/arena. I'd never go to a Yankees game alone. Can't imagine hopping a 45-60 minute train into the city and then bopping around on the subway for another 20 minutes alone. Going into the city is a group trip for me. Devils games I'd go to alone in a heartbeat. Again, I'd prefer someone else there with me, but it's just a 20-30 minute train ride and I'm there.Comment

Re: Do you do it? Attending games alone
I do it on a regular basis and prefer it.
There aren't too many A's fan's out here with me in PA and it is hard to convince non A's fans to drive to Cleveland or Baltimore and get a hotel room for a night or two and go to a couple games.
I really enjoy going to the games by myself...I hate distractions!Comment
