Cubs Vs Sox Prescense In Chicago

I was gonna post this in the show forum but then I kinda just ended up rambling for several paragraphs so Im posting it here

The cubs presence in chicago is greatly exaggerated. I mean no question there are more cubs fans, but its not really like they make it seem on broadcasts. Ive lived in Roscoe Village for the last year, literally like 1.5 miles away from wrigley.

I see tons of Sox stuff all the time. Actually at Retro on Roscoe one day last summer I actually saw MORE sox stuff than cubs, which surprised the **** out of me. Ill go out in a Konerko jersey and not hear word from anyone. I was getting my haircut the other day and people were talking Sox baseball there. I was on the Damen bus going out last night, and people were talking Sox and Cubs baseball. I worked IT at a HUGE national company headquartered in the north burbs and being a white sox fan was great because all my managers and director were sox fans. We really look out for eachother in the office too =P There was a guy that would always do my requests right away because I was a sox fan =) At my roommates work, they were announcing konerko hit a HR on opening day over the intercom at the office in the NW burbs. I was just interviewing at a recruiter the other day and the guy was saying all his superiors were white sox fans.

I just beam with pride =) Especially after going to university of iowa and the cubs fans there were actually like more annoying than they are in the city of chicago. I dont know if its because they are away from the city they want to try to like super represent or something. I was eating on roscoe street 2 days ago and the cubs game was on and out of a full bar, like one (fat =P) girl clapped when they scored a run. In Iowa City the bar would erupt when the cubs scored a run against the Reds but they were in 4th place and having a terrible season... I got the last laugh there though as I got to witness a championship =)

I grew up in the NW burbs and like half my friends are sox fans and half cubs fans. I grew up playing wiffleball in my friends back yard pretending to be frank thomas or craig greybeck or ron karkovice or whatever, hed do all the lefties cuz he was a lefty and putting it on the board, yes. I dont know if its just that more of my generation might be sox fans due to our sucess in the early 90s (or maybe a little thing called a WS championship in 2005) and now we're 25 or so or what, but I like it.

I will definitely say that freakin kids LOVE the Hawk. I wonder how many kids from 15 years ago are sox fans now because of him.

I just wanna say for all the Sox fans, We're out here. We might not sell out every game but don't let national baseball broadcasts fool you. We arent really the outcasts they make us out to be!
