    April 12 - April 18 MLB Discussion (Week 2)

    Clayton Kershaw kicks off our home opener on Tuesday. AZ and SF, good ole NL West baseball is back. Should be a great race this year.

    Hey, Braves offense;

    It's not 2009. Wake up.

    Thanks.

      Yep, hopefully Kershaw can come up big and give my fantasy teams a boost with some strikeouts and a win.

      The Padres are finally home after a 2-4 road trip. Is this strange or are people making up excuses that Arizona surpassed Colorado as the most hitter friendly park in the NL West? I was listening to the Padres broadcast on opening day and they mentioned that.

      In any case, the Padres got shredded by Ubaldo Jimenez and Jorge de la Rosa, let's see if this team can show that "speed" that was touted during spring training. I also can't wait to see Heyward as well.

      CY will be missing the opening day start so it'll go to Kevin Correia, hopefully this go around he pitches well.

        I've got tickets to all three Pads games and am really stoked. I hope I see some offense...hopefully Chipper's back in the lineup by Wednesday.

          The Jays are 5-1 after a week of the season. What a great start to the year! Seeing that they're facing the Chi-Sox, Angels and Royals on their homestand I think they got a great chance to pile up the victories and boy are they gonna need it as the schedule gets a lot tougher after that with the BoSox, Rays and A's.

          I'm worried about Lyle Overbay, the guy can't hit the broadside of a barn right now and hopefully after tonight he'll get to sit down and let Randy Ruiz play as Overbay is looking mighty frustrated at the plate. The bullpen is looking really strong. If you take out the couple blips they had the bullpen ERA is 0.75!

          Casey Janssen may become the New Era Dennis Lamp if the Jays continue this trend of keeping it close and winning late. For those who don't know Dennis Lamp was a reliever on the '85 Jays who finished with an 11-0 record.

          Vaguely Jays related

          I watched the SNB game last night and it was very sad to see Trevor Hoffman being just a shadow of his former self. If the Brewers want to contend they're gonna need a real closer. The Jays have a surplus of guys who can close so I would hope that Milwaukee calls the Toronto up. I know Milwaukee has a lot of good young players coming up so perhaps the Jays can get a young guy who's ML ready.

            Waino gets the bump today for the Cards home opener against the 0-6 Astros. I am a little nervous for two reasons. 1) We always seem to lose our home opener and 2) we never ever hit lefties. Today we draw Wandy Rod who has pitched quite well against us over his career. He hasn't beat us yet, but his ERA is only 2.65. Hopefully Waino looks much better than Carp did last night.

                  I thought no pitcher could be slower than Steve Trachsel....and then I saw Doug Davis.

                            Fausto Carmona's stuff is so unhittable, unfortunately it's also extremely hard to command sometimes. However, the new Carmona is much more composed than the old. Looks like he has found a good place and can become a very valuable pitcher for a long time.
