    Angelos, what a dummy.

Angelos, however, nixed the idea in a separate conversation with Ripken, telling him, according to three sources, that he did not want Ripken to receive credit once the team returned to prominence.

Why does it matter who gets credit when the team returns to prominence? From a GM's perspective(as with most team oriented people) it shouldn't matter. JUST GET THERE! And looking at the O's, they got a long way to go.

No surprised that Angelos is a *******. It almost makes me want them to fail but they are my team. The O's are taking a serious hit from it's neighbors down south too. The new stadium in DC, and many people that turned to the O's when DC didn't have a team are now becoming Nats fans. I think last weekend the 3 game total attendance was around 30,000 (for comparison, opening day was over 48,000 alone).

You'd think the owner would realize that having Cal Ripken as a part of anything right now would be a very good thing.

And the other side of the story, per ESPN:

Sounds a bit better, but honestly, Ripken is bigger than the Orioles. Taking a job in the organization at this point in his life would be a step down. Angelos needs to take the offer to "help" however he wants and leave it at that. Trust, Angelos is a slimeball. This shouldn't even be news. Ripken should just be helping without anyone outside of the clubhouse knowing about it... if the man wanted ANY job (including leading a group to buy Angelos out) I'm sure he'd have no problem getting it.

As I said in the other thread, I'm about as disgusted as I've ever been to be an O's fan. This is worse than 2005.
