John Farrell needs to be FIRED!!!

John Farrell the pitching coach is horrible. He has screwed up Beckett, Lester, Lackey, and now Matsuzaka. Farrell is inexperienced and has no credibility, he used to be a pencil pusher in Cleveland's administrative farm staff. Only an amateur like Farrell would force Matsuzaka to completely change up his mechanics and training regimen after his 2008 season where he went 18-3, top3 in Cy Young voting, and had a 6-2 MLB playoff record.

One thing I've noticed is that major league umps seem to give Dice-K a double standard strike zone. Dice-K likes to paint the corners like Tom Glavine used to do, but the umps seem to give him a much smaller strike zone than they give even other opposing pitchers in the same game.

    Just my 2cents.

You're crying over the pitching coach who's been there since '07 and before this season was hailed as a quirky but effective pitching guru.

    oookay.

Dice-K to me was never going to be a long term great starter in the Majors even when he had that pretty damn good '08 season you could see that the way he goes about his business what with throwing so many excess pitches and taking a long time to settle into the groove that he was going to flame out eventually.

The same thing happened to a phenom here in Toronto by the name of Juan Guzman. The man had an electric fastball and great breaking/sinking pitches but he took SOOOO long to throw to the plate and had bouts of wildness that eventually his career went off the track due to ineffectiveness and injury. The same thing is happening with Dice-K.

As for Lackey, I think that's more a product of coming from a place where you're hardly noticed to being the center of attention in Boston. Every little thing is scrutinized to the point that if you're not used to that kind of pressure you either fold or grow stronger from it. It remains to be seen for sure what will happen with him.

Beckett even in his good years in Boston has had stretches where he looked really bad and while it's looking a lot worse this year past history suggests he'll turn it around.

actually, after five starts last year he was 2-2 with a 7.22 era. This year after four starts, 1-0 with a 7.22 era

LOL shows what I know eh? It just looks worse this year probably because Boston's offense has been slow to come out of the gate.

Well look, who was it before...Dave Wallace right? He's good, but he's not got Dave Duncan staying power. This is an organization that Joe Kerrigan couldn't really get to pitch LOL.

Farrell is fine, Boston pitchers are simply not used to operating with no run support.

This topic is an example of why I don't listen to WEEI.

              This.

Once the offense gets going, and hopefully the last couple of games are an indication that that is starting to happen the pitching will come around. Beckett and Lester got off to rough starts last year and finished strong, Buchholz has been solid, and Lackey will come around.

A side note on the Kerrigan comment; he was not alone...Leo Mazzone couldn't do jack with the Orioles either. Which just shows that just because you are a great pitching coach with one team does not mean you will be with another.

Nor do I as we don't get it in Indianapolis where I am.
