Perez or Terry Pendleton seem like the likely choices.

Baseball managers just don't matter all that much, so there aren't really any "up and comers". It's more about having spent time on the bench somewhere and having a prior connection to an organization than it is about possessing superior skills of some kind.

We all knew he was going to be out, the divorce didn't help. I think he will retire though afterwards. I think either Don Mattingly or Larry Bowa will be the next manager.

          This man right here:

I would love to have Fredi Gonzalez in Atlanta next year. He showed last year that he can manage a team without too many star players. He can do so much with so little in other words. It's a joke what the Marlins' salary looks like.

What about Ned Yost, he was a Cox-er? Pendleton would be a good choice. Problem is the guy succeeding a legend usually gets canned in 2 years. Hire a re-tread, then can him. Then hire Pendelton or Perez or Gonzalez

I don't think the Marlins plan on letting Gonzalez go anytime soon. The way things ended for Yost in Milwaukee probably will not give him too many managerial options in the future. That being said, with him working for the Royals now i could see Dayton Moore giving him the Royals job when Trey Hillman is fired/not re-signed...which ever comes first.

Fredi's on the hot seat because Marlins ownership hates him, for whatever reason.

I'll slit my wrists if TP becomes the next manager.

Yost, I doubt it. Plus, he's too similar to Cox. Not that thats a bad thing, but Cox has single-handedly cost us games over the last few years directly b/c of his decisions.

I'd love Torre, but the man is too old I think.

I think the Marlins owners hate everyone. They got rid of Girardi also because they clashed.

whats' wrong with Pendelton? Other than he's the hitting coach of a team that's not hitting?

He's garbage. Just, no other way to describe it. He's horrendous.

Why isn't Art Howe managing anywhere? That dude was a straight up baseball genius.

It looks like Fredi Gonzalez may have earned more time with the way he put Hanley Ramirez in his place. He also probably earned himself the Atlanta job this offseason.
