Boycott 2011 MLB All-Star game in AZ

    Without getting it too political...

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Sen. Robert Menendez is urging the Major League Baseball Players Association to boycott next year's All Star Game in Phoenix over the recently passed Arizona law to crack down on illegal immigrants.

The New Jersey Democrat says in a letter that 27 percent of Major League players are Latinos and they shouldn't be subjected to a law Menendez says codifies racial profiling.

Rep. Jose Serrano, a New York Democrat, has similarly asked the players to boycott the 2011 event, noting that in 1993 the National Football League rescinded its offer to host the Super Bowl in Arizona because it didn't then recognize Martin Luther King day.

Players Association Executive Director Michael Weiner has come out against the law, saying it could negatively impact hundreds of players.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Interesting, if they get to boycotting this, that law might disappear.
Its a terrible law to begin with.

How is it a terrible law? Arizona's economy is being very sorely affected by illegal immigrants. The law just asks that they provide identification when asked.

Nowhere in the law does it mention Hispanics. It's true for illegal immigrants from everywhere. Also, most MLB players I'm sure are legal immigrants because the Latino imports have work visas.

It's an economic issue, not a social issue, and MLB needs to shut up and stop sticking its nose where it doesn't belong.

This was a federal govt issue that they failed to act upon, and AZ did something about it. So what? It shouldn't affect those who want to enjoy a sporting event in their hometown.
