I don't understand why people are down on Swish. Even going to back to his days with the A's, I'd take him on my team anytime.

      Yup

And I don't know much about Stanton, but if his problem is patience, I don't get the comparison to Swisher at all.

After they pay back the 515 million dollars it would cost to make the stadium, of course.

Stanton seemed pretty patient tonight to me atleast. His first AB he worked a 3-2 count before getting an infield single. Another AB he takes a first pitch strike then next pitch is on the outside part of zone and he drives it for a single to opposite field. His K was only 3 pitches but i think 2 of them were strikes. His other out he just missed a cut fastball( or a splitter announcers werent sure) for a fly out which is prolly a pitch he hasnt seen a whole lot

I also liked his defense held atleast 2-3 runner to singles that could have been doubles

It's not really off base, aside from the walks, both have tremendous power, strike out a ton, and may hover around a .250-.260 average. Swish has been hitting well this year, but I guess this stems some personal expectations that I thought he'd be a better hitter given some of the hype from Oakland.

Stanton has more power than Swisher. A more apt comparison might be Adam Dunn with less walks.

Solid debut that took a back seat to Strasburgh.

With Chris Coghlan and Cameron Maybin struggling it will be good for the Marlins to get a little more production out of the Outfield (hopefully) with Stanton to go with Cody Ross.

At some pont by the end of the season we will probably see Logan Morrison in the lineup as well. Hanley Ramirez/Mike Stanton/Logan Morrison the future of the Marlins offense heading into the new ballpark.

                  Re: Mike Stanton

Coghlan is starting to play well now, bumped his average up to .265 is on a 9 game hit streak and is 19-39 over that streak.

Im suprised Morrison didnt win the 1B job during spring training, he just recently came back from some type of injury but more then likely a september call up. Gaby Sanchez has been playing better then I thought he would be, but Morrison has more upside and it would definitely help to add another Lefty to the Lineup.

                            Wait, what?

I honestly think they'll finish last. That's a very tough division this year though. Probably the second toughest behind the AL East.

Nah. It IS the toughest, the O's bring the AL East down...

Considering Halladay makes veteran hitters confused I don't think last night was a very big deal
