That 1 catch and one season with decent numbers landed him a huge contract.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Devon White has my vote for his catch in the '92 World Series. Wow.

Oh yeah shoot, didn't Ron Gant make some great catch in the playoffs or something? I didn't like the catch because of the situation if it was indeed the playoffs, I just remember I liked the catch. Maybe it was Ray Lankford, I can't remember. I need to investigate that one.

About Willie Mays and "the catch" (and I'll catch flak for this I'm sure), I think it's way overrated. Yes, given the circumstances it was an amazing catch and I'm not taking that away, but there have been MANY catches that were more difficult/amazing than that play. I think that play has become iconic because 1) it was Willie Mays, 2) it happened in the WS, and 3) TV was just beginning to become a staple in folks homes and seeing that play replayed over and over since has made people remember it.

Again, I think it was one of the greatest catches of all time, but not the greatest catch.

I was honestly quite underwhelmed the first time I saw "The Catch" on tape.

Amazing for its time, but I've seen plenty of CFs make on-the-run, over-the-shoulder catches.
