    Re: Where should I start?

Oh, I'm sure you can buy them... but with me only playing in "2-day-a-week" softball league, and had a tennis ball, pocketknife and $3.00 in pennies handy... LOL

I'm getting all new equipment this year... do you know if the weighted baseballs come in softballs too? I never ran across those anywhere.

A couple of other things you can do. To strengthen your rotator cuff get a tennis ball canister, fill it with dirt, tape it up and you can do different Jobe exersises. for your forarms you can take part of a wooden broomstick, tie a rope in the middle leaving about 3 feet of rope and tie a 5 pund weight to the other end. Grab both sides of the broom stick and keep twisting with your wrists with your arms straight out to bring the weight up. This works very good.

Dude I know made a sweet thing like that... he took one of those wheels with handles, took off the wheel and put a stationary pulley on it, and a little rope, small weight and voila...there you go.

For forearms, you can any number of small tricks... you can do curls except turn your hands face down or knuckles out, and that works the forearm. For this you can spend $40 on a small dumbell kit. Or even though cheesy grip things work too to a lesser extent.

as long as you build good mechanics the speed will be there. i belive too much emphasis is put on muscles for pitchers. I'm 6 foot and weigh just 152, but i can launch a baseball. At the age of 15, my fastball is the equivilent of the average highschool senior.I cannot bench press more than 120 pounds though.
I would simply use body weight exercises and proper stretching to work out. Remember, you do not want to lose your flexibility. Most of your power will come from your legs, so I wouldn't spend a whole lot of time on weights and things for your upper body. I recommend running ( a good mix of sprints and distance ) as will as push-up's sit-ups and plylometric exercises. On top of the effects your will see, this all requires you to purchase very few things, maybe even none. Good luck.
