I don't really see it as that impressive.

Pujols and Molina will probably both get new deals with the Cardinals by then. Unless Wainwright has a horrible couple of years or gets injured the Cards will probably pick up his option. Sabathia is not going to opt out of the final $92 million of his contract. A lot of those names are ageing players who will either retire (on their own or go unsigned), get 1 year deals or minor league invites to training camps.

I don't know why they are calling it the best in MLB history.

Yeah I dont see it as that good. Most of those players will prob already have signed an extension or something by the time it rolls around. Does anyone actually think Pujols is going to go to free agency?

Nope, but as a red fan i would love to see him go to the al, but as a mlb fan it would be good for him to stay in the same place his whole career.
You never know if stl will have the money to pay for him though. You just paid 17 mil? a year for holliday, and pujols will command more than the 25mil howard got.

I hate this reasoning that people give. Oh the Cardinals aren't going to be able to pay Pujols because they're paying Holliday so much. The Cardinals would have never signed Holliday if they knew it would interfere with signing Pujols. They know how much Pujols means to the city of St. Louis and they'll do anything in their power to keep him here for life.

Pujols is to the Cardinals now what Ozzie Smith was to them for the 15 years he played in St.Louis. Pujols is the St.Louis Cardinals.
