Did AJ Burnett start a post game PIE in the face trend in MLB?

Garza pulls a no hitter last night, didnt he get a 'pie' in the face.
Marlins outfielder Chris Coghlan gets a pie in the face (then gets put on the DL)

Are pie in the face up after AJ Burnett in 2009 for NYY walkoffs?

Sorta like Harry Carson NY Giants Gatorade dump on the coach in the 80s set a 'me too' around the NFL.

? I think you're referring to the Walk-off Homerun Celebration that injured Kendry Morales and they have not been banned. Managers agree they don't want to take out the joy of their players celebrating; they just hope they can be careful about it.

Just the Marlins have banned them not the entire MLB. Don't know if that's what you meant.
            MLB: St. Louis Cardinals
            NBA: New York Knicks
NFL: Houston Texans, St. Louis Rams
            NCAA: Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Oh, so Coghlan injured his knee on a pie to the face? I didn't know about this.

edit: Read the report. He injured himself administering the pie to the face. Well, that's just unbelievable. Not the way I would have guessed it to happen.

The pie to the face thing has been around for ages but it does seem Burnett brought it back in style. Hell, even after he's left Toronto the Jays still do it from time to time.

Yeah the Marlins pie-to-the-face is what I mean. I just read that article like 2 minutes before I saw this thread.

that's what i meant, not that AJ was first in MLB, in 09, but to make it seem like the trend that it is now....

btw, did he do pies when he was w/ Toronto for walkoffs?

Can't remember for sure. What would usually happen is after the ball game there would be an interview with the star of the game and he'd go out and pie them. I even remember one time he was being interviewed and he got like 3 pies in his face!

Come on, there's clips out there from waayyyy back. Burnett is just an *** and has to do it every single time there's a post-game interview.

How is he an ***? He's not the only one doing it, and he doesn't do it every single time there is a post-game interview. He only does it when there is a walk off. There is a post-game interview every game, and maybe a walk off 12 times a season.

My bad, thought he did it whenever someone was getting interviewed. I still think he's an ***.
