Anyway, Brady Anderson is the guy who immediately comes to my mind each time I hear Bautista hit a HR. We'll see what happens but I think this season is an outlier for him.
Long had a promising rookie season, followed up with I'd call a decent sophmore year, before mediocre seasons and trickling off into nothingness.

But yeah, Anderson is like the almost perfect example for me. A career 10-20 homerun guy goes off, then goes back to hitting around 20 homeruns a year.

To be fair, I'm 99.9999% sure Brady Anderson used steroids.

There is no way he can continue on this pace. He'll probably settle down into a 20 HR per year guy. My guess is, he's a product of Cito Gaston and Dwayne Murphy.

Rake. And I think if the Blue Jays get a good offer for him that will help the club, why not move him.

Re: Jose Bautista - Rake or Fake?

I would trade Bautista if a team wants to give up a good prospect or 2 for him. Everything about this season screams fluke. He has never shown this kind of power before (I know he hit well last September but those numbers should be taken with a grain of salt since the rosters are expanded and regulars are rested). His season actually reminds me of Aaron Hill last year.

Bautista probably has more value to the Jays because they will need a 3B next season and Baustita can play there.

I'm interested to see how many other trades the Jays make. If the Jays hold on to Downs, Frasor, Gregg, and Buck they can collect a big bag of draft picks (in a very deep draft) by offering arbitration.

This year will be an outlier, where he is projected to hit 48 homeruns. Best thing is probably the fact he is getting on base more, taking more walks. Heck, he could be a Sammy Sosa case who I'd say really became that premier, elite status player at the age of 30 and then produced 5 years of elite play.
So maybe Bautista has finally made it click and he'll be an elite homerun threat, or maybe he's a one hit wonder like we've seen in the past. Like Richard Hidalgo, Brady Anderson, Bobby Higginson, Terrence Long.
Could be possible to turn it on at the end of his career. Look at Ibanez and Moyer (even thought a pitcher) they bot didn't see success until the later years!

I think it s a lucky year and they move now or never. Places to go would be Yankees, rays, braves, and padres.

So then did he only use them for 1 year? People always bring it up with Brady because he hit 50 home runs that one year. If we was taking roids that year, then why would he stop and go back to hitting 15 year.

He is never going to touch these numbers again but he is going to have very solid numbers the next few years and the Jays will be glad he wasn't traded.

very suspect. maybe the 2010 bluebirds are the 1990s Texas Rangers, but w/ supposed increased testing (of detectable substances only) the chances are a bit more that they are clean.

If I'm the Jays I'm making Bautista wear a For Sale sign on his back and let teams starting tossing prospects out to get him.

Guaranteed he doesn't hit more than 20 next year.
