    Sean Burroughs a bust...?

Everyone has been saying Sean Burroughs has been a bust, based on injury riddled last season, and a poor first half this season, however, look at his current stats.

    .282 BA, 5 HR, 47 RBIs.

Not too shabby for a second year player on a last place team?

I think some of it has to do with how people were hyping him up before he came up to the big leagues. I remember reading stories comparing his potential to the statistics that his father put up. Some people even said he would be better then his father.

As we all know talent usually skips a generation and so Sean won't be as good as his dad but I think he'll be a solid player. He's also pretty stubborn as I was watching a bit of a game against the Braves and he got plunked on the foot. He was hobbling around but he stayed in the game.

Ya gotta love a player who won't let getting beaned stop him from playing.

We also have to remember that he is only 22 or 23. This kid has been hyped since he was 12 years old playing on back to back champs in the LLWS!!! He is not over-hyped. He will continue to get better and his numbers will improve every year!!!

His father was a great ball player himself... usually those father son combos are pretty good... when you see Bobby and Barry, the Big and Little Red Machines, Jack and J.T., the Alous, etc.

Sean will be something... he just needs to find something that wasn't right from the beginning.

I've seen Sean on T.V. and in real life a lot before, and I think that as a lefty, he is opening up WAY too quickly. His front shoulder is pulling out on those outside pitches and his hips open up to the first base side. That's why he can get those inside pitches... he just needs to guess inside.

So, he needs to change his form of opening up while swinging, and he'll be a better hitter.

This year, I'll say he's a bust. He hasn't exactly found his position yet either. He probably just needs to find the right hitting coach. I say for the rest of the year Burroughs should be demoted to AAA, and come back up for Spring Training next year.

He better not be a bust. The Rumor Mill says that he's part of the Giles/Kendall trade to the Padres after this season.

I watched Sean regularly 2 seasons ago when he was with Portland, and played the entire year there and put up great numbers. When I saw him play recently with the Pads I thought he was playing with half the poise I'd seen him display in Portland. I think the injuries he suffered last season set him back a little bit mentally, that and the usual growing pains. He does look better this year than last year. He just needs to find his place.

I think he'll be real solid next season, probably hit 15hrs or so with an AVG around .300, then after that he might just begin living up to the Brett comparisons everyone's been making about him.

If he doesn't go in the Kendall/Giles trade, he and Khalil Greene are going to be an awesome 3b/ss duo for years to come.
