    Re: Sean Burroughs a bust...?

No, you see, I'm not saying that he couldn't, I know he can now, he just isn't going for that kind of swing.

Like I said, the #2 hitter in the lineup is a good control hitter... he needs to know how to place the ball to at least bring the runner over... most are lefties because they hit the ball to the right side more often than to the left... but lots are righties too because they are good control hitters and knows how to handle their inside-out swing regardless of the pitch location... I think Burroughs will be this kind of guy, he just turns out too quickly. He needs to stay on the inside seams and handle that inside-out swing on outside pitches. You don't see him go oppo too much, and since he's not a power hitter, and because he doesn't have much speed, he needs to learn to expand the depth of his hitting zones. I feel that he is not much help for the rest of the season, and since there's almost no chance for them to make it to the playoffs, he should go back to the AAA team and learn from the hitting coach. Timing is his potential greatness... he just needs to know that. If he wants to be a power hitter, then he should go and be traded to the Rangers or Brewers... but NOT stay in San Diego.

Before he goes for power, he needs to improve in clutch situations.

The stroke is there. He's just real young. Considering he's like 21, and probably could have used an extra year or 2 in the minors he's actually playing pretty well. He also has shown some real potential defensively, with good range and a very good throwing arm. He just needs to mature, and the power will come.

If he's involved in any trade to the Bucs for Giles and Kendal I will turn in my season tickets on the spot and go purchase Angels seats.

Again, his swing is there, but unless he even wants to pull and lift balls out, he still needs to wait another split second for that. If he wants to balance out his hitting shart from left to right field, he needs to keep his front shoulder in and wait yet ANOTHER split second.

Yeah, Burroughs really has a sweet, sweet swing. I think the power will come along. Hasn't he been compared to a young Palmeiro?

Also, I highly doubt he'll be part of any Giles/Kendall trade but eh.. what do I know.
