I agree nothing bad could come of signing Sanders and Stairs. They both can still play ball, and more importantly they can add a vetran presence in the clubhouse. The only thing is I dont think that they would sign another one year deal. I think they would both want a couple year deals, I just hope the Pirates dont end up signing them for 5 years a peice.

Don't think 5 years will be an option.

I'll tell you; a 2-year deal at about $1.8 to $2 million a year for Sanders would probably get it done.

Stairs would probably be happy at about $1.2 to 1.3 mil / yr for 2 years. He's at $850 k now.

Yea I didnt really mean sign them to 5 year deals. But the numbers you put up sound pretty good.

I like both those deals too. Especially if they trade Kendall, they'll certainly have the money to do it. Plus it's not so huge a deal that they won't be tradable if such an opportunity arose.

Stairs has repeatedly said he loves Pittsburgh, so I don't think he'd be reluctant to sign a deal with them. Sanders would probably be happy just to receive a multi-year deal instead of continuing to move every year to a different team.

Well, Littlefield has said the Pirates are not rebuilding, so they're going to have to have a couple veterans in the mix. Who better than these two guys?

If I'm DL, I might start talking with Sanders now. The way he's hitting, he may just price himself out of Pittsburgh next year.

I don't think he'll price himself out of Pittsburgh simply because he's 36 and damn streaky. He's always been able to hit the ball hard in stretches, and I don't think most teams could see having him on the team as primarily a starter and thus won't pay him as much.
