glavine was awful the second half of last year, and it's continued. He's just done. If it were just Mazzone, he would have fixed him last season during his downfall.
As for Burkett, he had one year very similiar to this year, and one good year, but remember with the ERA, you have to add on at least a half-run to get what it would be in the AL.

As for Burkett, he had one year very similiar to this year, and one good year, but remember with the ERA, you have to add on at least a half-run to get what it would be in the AL.

Glavine's stats from 2nd half of season last year:

W IP H ER BB K ERA WHIP
5 67.0 68 29 27 38 3.90 1.418

Looks like he had a decent 2nd half. Not anything to write home about, but decent. That's far and away better than the "awful" that you described it as.

In the NL, close to a 4 ERA is awful, especially for an all-star like Glavine.
Then, in the playoffs, he pitched twice, went a total of 7 and 2/3, and gave up 13 runs on 17 hits. Mazzone couldn't snap him out of it, which was my point. If it were coaching, it could have been fixed.
