what does the future hold for Mark Prior?

recently the Rangers agreed to a deal with Mark Prior who was at one point one of if not the best young pitchers in the game. At 29 how do you think he will do?

The future holds more independent league baseball.

I hope he can come back to the majors, doesn't have to be good in the majors but I just don't see it. Hopefully I'm wrong though.

The Pads signed him a few years back as a project, it never worked. The guy's career is all but over. He's never been healthy. I wonder what his fastball would be at by this point.

His health has failed him as a starter much the same way it did Kerry Wood. See if he would be open to being a bullpen guy.
I dont remember there names but they were allot of fun....

Kerry Wood still has powerful stuff, but even with it, it's not like he's transformed into a great relief pitcher. He had a hugely overrated season closing for the Cubs, then signs to be a DL spot with the Indians.

Does Prior still have Wood's kind of velocity? I seriously doubt it.

Prior is pitching out of the bullpen in AAA for the Rangers. His velocity must be somewhat decent as he had 22 strikeouts in 11 innings in Orange County in the Golden League.

Here's hoping he's able to come back and be a serviceable major league bullpen (or starter arm). The guy definitely knows how to pitch - it's just a matter of whether he has the velocity to do it or not.

If he was a lefty, he probably would have a much better chance of success. There aren't too many "crafty righty's" out there.

Who cares? He's been irrelevant for quite some time now, and it's clear he will never be healthy.

I still chuckle every time I think back to when many Twins fans were mad they took Joe Mauer instead of Prior.

                        Answer: TOAST! (he's done)

Wishful thinking: makes it back, wins 20 games or saves 50
that guy was amazing, hopefully he will be back at some point, there are some 'miracles' (think Lance Armstrong), he's only 30.

Not that I'd really care to see it happen, but he could sign with the Diamondbacks in hopes of reviving his career. It's happened three times this year in Kris Benson (who got hurt really early), Rodrigo Lopez, and Dontrelle Willis (released). "Let's not worry about getting back into the playoffs, let's just worry about helping out failed pitchers." That's our motto.

Seriously, though, I hope this doesn't really happen.

I hope something good. He was my favorite player for a while when I was younger, and I was very upset when he ran into injury troubles. I hope he could find some success in the big leagues again, but who knows if his body will let him(or if he still has it or not).

That should change with Kevin Towers now as the GM.
