Re: @ mjb
Yeah they do...to clarify...
a lot of folks...the predictable ones...all they ever do is bitch and moan...most times, unfairly about managers who win--which is the bottom line. Yes, ALL managers make mistakes, yes all managers over manage at times, etc....
THESE folks forget that even the BEST managers 90% of the time, will lose a MINIMUM of 60 games....
We're talking about baseball (162 games), NOT the NFL (16 games)
Those SAME folks never btich and moan about those managers who havent done shhh...EVER!
THAT'S my point....
personal agendas are a b****
got it?

Re: CONGRATULATIONS TO DUSTY BAKER and THE CINCINNATI REDS!!!
This is a hilarious attempt at baiting.
My team was the first to clinch its division, and I still don't like some of the thing the manager does. It's baseball, fans complain about the manager. It's part of the whole experience man. Simmah down.Comment

@ Skerik
Like I dont know what the Phillies did...dont be silly....
I don't bitch and moan and nor do I have issues in giving props to those managers/teams that do well---like a TON of others here....

@ ImTellinTim
your statement is hillarious.....at best...baiting....plain silly...
I'm NOT a Reds fan at all............I am a Mets fan--since 1966...
My team, while far from the worse in either league, did not do well at all..
REAL fans don't make off-thecuff silly, uninformed statements, continually to second guess...nor do they make a seasonal habit of piling on...
I created this post to give all props to the Reds successful first step. Since NO ONE did so...and to in some ways, counter that sill 'moron' stuff in the other thread....
What is part of the whole experience?
A LOT of what goes on...in generation defined....
NO need to simmer down...the truth is what it is!

@ mjb
I do agree that in the final analysis, there are not a ton of games in any one season, where one can say the manager impacted wither way....that is true...
I'm of the belief that Managers receive too much credit when they win and too much blame when they lose (managing an MLB team isn't rocket science after all). The Pirates have shipped out many managers throughout the years who never had the talent to compete...the managers wound up as the scapegoat for the teams/owners failures. For 2017...

They currently have the best record in the AL for the second time in three years despite playing in by far the toughest division in baseball and having a microscopic payroll.Comment

Re: @ ImTellinTim
6 teams have clinched playoff spots, and no one created a thread congratulating the other 5, so I don't see what the issue is that no one did it for the Reds.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Well if you agree that the decisions a manager makes doesn't impact that many games over the course of the season, than I don't see how the Reds making the playoffs is that big of a counter to the other thread.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Let's call a spade a spade. This thread was blatant trolling and it should be locked.Comment
