AL MVP

Very tight race for AL MVP. However, this year I found we might have another ARod where the best player doesn't get the award because his team is not in contention.

    Here are the candidates -

    Ichiro: 95 Runs, .330 BA, .371 OBP, .823 OPS, 181 Hits

    Nomar: 176 Hits, 22 HR, 86 RBI, .323 BA, .364 OBP, .912 OPS

    Giambi: .262 BA, 35 HR, 94 RBI, .428 OBP, .547 SLG, .975OPS

    Big Frank: .264 BA, 35 HR, 82 RBI, .562 SLG, .947 OPS

    Manny: .318 BA, 31 HR, 90 RBI, .419 OBP, .575 SLG, .994 OPS

    Delgado: .300 BA, 33 HR, 117 RBI, .588 SLG, 1.021 OPS

    ARod: .305 BA, 37 HR, 95 RBI, .602 SLG, 1.001 OPS

So the race is pretty even as you can see. Upfront, I will tell you that what you are about to read is completely biased, unashamed homerism on my part.

The best player in the American League is..........

     GARRET ANDERSON

    Look at these stats!

    .325 BA, 27 HR, 109 RBI, .930 OPS

Its too bad he has ARod syndrome. Awesome season, but team out of contention.

So if I wasn't being biased, i'd give it to Manny Ramirez, he has the best combination of stats for candidates that have teams in playoff contention.

I'd give it to Anderson too man. That guy can do it all on the baseball diamond. He's a great fielder, as opposed to a guy like Manny who lumbers around the outfield. I'd say its between Ichiro and Nomar realistically.

    The dynasty will return

There should be an award called.. BSP.. Best Statistical Player. This would end the debate altogether. And many times the same player could win MVP as well as BSP.

There is already an award like that: Hank Aaron Award. Tho that award has been downgraded so much that it means nothing.
