how many at bats does it take for a player to have officially played a year experience wise?

It's 3.1 plate appearances per game for 162 games. If they said 3.1 at bats per game, Bonds wouldn't be qualified for an officially played year.

well, it's either lower than 147 at bats or lower than 49 games or both.

I'm asking cause I want to know how much over the limit hank blalock was last year. Cause if he'd been under the limit last year (which wouldn't have been too hard for the rangers to do) then he'd be the sure fire ROY this year.
