    Rookies of the Year are.....

    AL. Neftali Feliz Texas Ranger

    NL. Buster Posey S.F. Giants

    From ESPN.com:

NEW YORK -- San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey and Texas Rangers closer Neftali Feliz met again Monday when they were voted the Rookies of the Year.

    Rookies of the Year
In the American League, Rangers reliever Neftali Feliz was the clear choice among BBWAA voters for AL Rookie of the Year.

    Player Points 1st-place votes
    Neftali Feliz,
    Rangers 122 20
    Austin Jackson,
    Tigers 98 8
    Danny Valencia,
    Twins 12 0

In the National League, Giants catcher Buster Posey's 20 first-place votes helped him outpoint Jason Heyward as top rookie.

    Player Points 1st-place votes
    Buster Posey,
    Giants 129 20
    Jason Heyward,
    Braves 107 9
    Jaime Garcia,
    Cardinals 24 1

Posey, who hit several key home runs and helped the Giants win the World Series for the first time since 1954, easily outdistanced Atlanta Braves outfielder Jason Heyward for the National League award.

Posey was picked first on 20 of 32 ballots in voting by members of the Baseball Writers' Association of America.

Voting was done by two members of the BBWAA in each league city after the regular season, with each person listing players. Posey, promoted to majors in late May, was left off the ballot by Yasushi Kikuchi of Kyodo News from the Los Angeles-Anaheim chapter.

Feliz, the rocket-armed righty from the Dominican Republic who set a rookie record with 40 saves as Texas reached the World Series for the first time, finished far ahead of Detroit Tigers center fielder Austin Jackson for the AL honor.

    No argument here from me.

Although the Buster Posey love by the media is just a tad crazy as i'm hearing Derek Jeter comparisons in terms of leadership.

Both were rookies and help their team win a ring. Buster is the real deal.

Either Posey or Heyward would have been good choices. It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if the Braves would have knocked out the Giants as to how the voting would have gone. But both winners are legit choices.

I believe the voting is completed prior to the playoffs, so that shouldn't have mattered.

Precisely...bottom line though, Posey had a better year.

I wouldn't say Posey led anything in the post-season. A 288/354/390 line is not that impressive...I think it's more accurate to say that their pitchers led them in the post-season.

And Joe Mauer in terms of overall skills. I like the kid, but let's just hold up until he consistently starts putting up seasons.

I agree with both winners. Nice to see Danny Valencia getting a few votes. I would have loved to see him all year. I hope he can sustain what he started next season as the Twins haven't had a consistent bat at third since Koskie.

Seems like Heyward had a better start and Posey the stronger finish (playoffs not included).

You guys realize he was a golden
Spikes winner in college. Most Golden Spikes winner turn out to be studs. I will say this what he did with calling games was amazing. Even the pitching staff said that about him. And he has a riffle of an arm. He will be the Mauer of the NL. Though Mcant is still the best catcher in the NL. But Buster will be up there real fast in my opinion. The kid was a rookie catcher batting 4th on his team. How many rookie catchers have done that before?

Once the pitchers trust what he was calling. It was wrap. He was a big part of that pitching staff success.

Both are sick. No problems with it. Heyward had injuries and big slumps in between his big moments.

                            Both well deserved.
N.L. was tough choice. Heyward and Garcia were both rookies I thought were well deserving as well.

Overall this is one of the best Rookie classes I can remember. Posey, Feliz, Heyward, Stanton, Chapman (debut only), Garcia, Jackson, Davis, and on and on. All impact rookies. Let's hope for no sophomore slumps for anyone.
