I am glad they chose the right person!

Now on for Hamilton in the American League, and it will make up for some of the AL gold glove voting.

Absolutely deserved it too! He was the main piece to the puzzle to reviving baseball in Cincinnati. Looking forward to more years of Votto and more winning seasons from the Reds. Congratulations, Joey!

        Great choice!

Votto's been through a lot the last couple or so years so it's nice to see his hard work and great play rewarded.

              Excellent choice.

"I think it was a tossup," said Votto. "I beat [Pujols] in batting average, but we all kind of know batting average is an overrated statistic."

I guess we know where Votto lives during the off-season.

It was the right choice. I'm slightly surprised it was almost unanimous. I'd have thought Pujols would have gotten a few more votes than he did.

Congrats to Joey. Such a great young ballplayer. I'm sure this won't be his last MVP.

Joey is so modest, he also has to realize he led the entire league in OBP, SLG, OPS, and OPS+. And that is what pushed him over the edge. Also providing the much needed pop on offense to make Cinci a playoff team again isn't too shabby either.

Haha, I'm thinking that if he is daring enough to say batting average is overrated, he knows that he led the league in those other stats. He mentioned how Pujols beat him in HRs and RBI. Very clever.

Joey Votto might be one of my new favorite players just because of his tongue-in-check response to the media.
