    Manny's Value

The Toronto Blue Jays seem about 80% likely that they will take ManRam up on his wish to play in Toronto.
My question to you guys is what do you feel about it if u were GM?

    FACTS:
    - He would be strictly DH
    - He wants a Cheap but INCENTIVE based one year deal
    - Rogers Centre is a Hitters Ballpark
    - He's in Decline at 38
    - His antics wont be as publicized being in Toronto and not being in the OF
    - He was on steroids and health could play a factor in his recent decline

Me Personally I hate the guy, but understand hes one of the best hitters of this era no doubt about it. I think I'd still give him a shot though, worst that could happen you cut him lose by june

I would certainly take him if he's willing to DH and it's an incentive based deal. The Twins have had trouble finding quality right-handed hitters going on a decade now.

      Re: Manny's Value

Boras (who I believe is Manny's agent) has said that he's looking for a 1-year incentive laden deal. If that's what it takes to get Manny to Toronto then i'm all for it. It doesn't hurt to have him around for a year with little strain to the budget.

The man has also had amazing career numbers in Toronto and maybe that'll translate into a full season. This would strictly be a stop-gap measure and I wouldn't expect Manny around after 2011.

        Re: Manny's Value

If you are Toronto you take Manny because the potential upside is a .300 batting average and 30 HR's/100 RBI's if he can stay healthy. The fact that he is willing to take an incentive based deal is a sign that even Manny believes he has to prove he can still play the game.

Two years ago no one but the Dodgers would even talk to Manny and i have to think that the interest level in him now is even less than before so if the Jays are willing to take the chance he should go for it.

Manny is still a .300 hitter, but he hit for very little power last year, even in Chicago. His was basically reduced to a singles hitter. If I were to sign him, I wouldn't have the deal go higher than 5-6 million.

He's got to be cheap. He still has the ability to destroy a team, but we dont know if his bat is capable to offset that still.

Manny aint hitting 30 hrs in a season ever again.
The guy has lost all of his power, this wont end well for Toronto.

I'd love for the Indians to bring Manny back. He could play LF part of the time, and DH when Hafner's shoulder inevitably starts hurting him. Might put some fans in the seats, which is what the Tribe needs more than anything...

I think putting Manny back in the AL East in familiar surroundings with a manager who knows Manny and would know how to handle him could benefit both player and team.

You might need to bring back Albert Belle, Kenny Lofton, and Carlos Baerga while you're at it. Unless Sizemore and Santana are healthy right out of the gate and stay healthy, and some of those young pitchers play well it will be another long year for the Indians.
