Indians Hall of Famer Bob Feller, 92, has been placed in hospice care as he deals with leukemia and other health complications.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Hall of Famer Bob Feller, according to Bob DiBiasio, Indians vice president of public relations, has been transferred from Cleveland Clinic to hospice.

Feller, 92, has experienced a number of serious health problems after being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in August. He suffered from vertigo, in combination with his chemotherapy treatments. In October, he had a pacemaker installed.

He was recently admitted to the Clinic with pneumonia. Feller was also diagnosed with thrush, an infection of the mucus membrane lining the mouth and throat.

Feller is the Indians' all-time leader in victories with 266, innings pitched 3,827, strikeouts 2,581, complete games 279 and starts 484. Among his 266 victories were three no-hitters.

He holds Indians single-season records for complete games with 36, strikeouts 348, innings pitched 371 1/3, shutouts 10 (tied with Bob Lemon) and walks 208.

Feller lives in Gates Mills with his wife Anne.

He was inducted into the Cooperstown Hall of Fame and Museum in 1962. The Indians retired his No.19 in 1957.

Hospice is a holistic caring program for the terminally ill.

The Great Bob Feller has died, link below. I almost got his autograph at the 2009 All-Star Game Fanfest, but he was only going to be there for a certain amount of time and I was past the cutoff. I did get Rollie Finger's autograph, but I really wanted Feller's. Anyway, R.I.P Bob Feller

I have to be honest in saying that I didn't much like Bob Feller, but I did (and still do) have a great deal of respect for him.

Why did you not like him? You may be the first person I have ever heard say that.

Feller, for all the greatness he did, was a pretty rabid racist.

Yep. I've heard plenty of the same stories as you have from living up here, I'm sure. The dude was one of the best pitchers of all-time and nobody can ever take that away from him but he was far from a nice guy.

Feller was on the list of guys that tried to blackball Jackie Robinson when he came into the league. Rumor has it that one time Feller physically and verbally antagonized Robinson (who was powerless to defend himself since he was under a microscope) so much during an incident that Eddie Stanky ended up in a fistfight with Feller over it.

Oh, and lest we forget when he called Muhammad Ali a "a draft dodging expletive" a few years ago.

Because he was one of those people that was bitter that things in the world are not the same as they were in his day. He held a strong conviction in his values and I get that. But he was angry that people of the younger generations didn't feel the same way he did about things. He was a great man, it's just that kind of attitude really bothers me.

edit- as far as the allegations of racism go, that is blatanly false. Feller never did anything to try and bar Jackie Robinson from the majors. In fact, Bob Feller did a lot of barnstorming in the offseason playing with and against black ballplayers.
