For me, he was have to excel in all area of the game. Specifically, he would have to be a pitcher. He would have to be a Cy Young caliber pitcher. He must also be great at hitting the ball. I would also be looking for a family history in the game, so you knew he wouldn't bust. My example, Barry Bonds son happens to be a pitcher. He's a really good pitcher. He can also bat really well. With his father and grand father being ballers, I know it's in his blood. Since he would the son of Barry, there is the potential that he could be a nasty slugger and fairly fast/good at stealing bases. He would also have to be good at interview and selling products. A real people's person. Obliviously, he was be the face of the franchise, so he should be good at interviews and team commercials. That's my idea billion dollar player.

The billoin dollar player?
I realize the potential earnings in baseball is astonishing. I'm assume the highest paid players is A-Rod in total. I could be wrong, I don't know much on contracts. If a franchise were is give 1 billion dollars for a player that they would take from his first day until he retires, what would he have to do? In other words, I want you guys to play GM and a once in a like-time type player come along and you were to paid him the billion. What skills/attributes/personal things would the player have to posses to receive that contract?

I dont care what type of player he is I wouldnt give $1 billion to any player. That is WAY too much money for a baseball player and if I was a GM with my luck he would have a injury plague career..Last edited by dickey1331; 12-18-2010, 02:30 PM.MLB: Texas Rangers

To earn 1 Billion dollars he would need to be able to pitch a shutout every other day and be able to maintain a .900 batting average with a 2.700 slugging %. He would also need to be named Kal-El and defend the team's city from wrong-doers.Comment
