If him and Prince both walk on them, they're going to really regret this. They already traded a top prospect (who tanked anyways, but moot) for a WC berth with CC Sabathia.

I'm not going to say they're the "favorites" in that division. St Louis, if they play up to their potential (which they did not last season), should win the division. I'd also rank the Reds ahead of the Brewers, with Greinke. Although Dusty had his year last year, can Dusty Baker put up two winning seasons in a row, with no pitchers getting TJ surgery? Odds are probably against that.

Or does he have a player option after the first year or something?

Either way, I'd like to think that if we can get him to taste Playoff baseball he'd want to stick around for that second year. Might be wishful thinking on my part.

It's just nice to see this front office going for it and trying to win now. And not by signing some old starting pitcher with no upside (Hi Jeff Suppan, Braden Looper, and others). It might backfire, we might not make the Playoffs this year and lose Fielder and Greinke at he end of the year, but this is still a refreshing change of pace from the organization. This is honestly the most excited I've ever been about Brewers baseball going into a season. Can't wait.

Kudsos to the Brewers on this one. That rotation is as good, if not better, than most in the NL now.

I've never really cared much at all about the NL Central, but here's to seeing either the Reds or Brewers on top(I don't like the Cards or Cubs).

No, as a Cubs fan this sucks because it is another example of how frustrating our front office is...

If teh Brewers can get Grienke, than the Cubs could have, too. Just shows how much the Soriano deal and the Zambrano deal are killing the organization.

Chicago seems determined to NEVER make a run at any worthwhile FA or available player. lord, i hate being a Cubs fan.

It's a good move by the brewers, but they had better hope they hang on to him in 2 years because they gave up some prospects for him, and if he walks away, they could be in some trouble. They've got a good rotation now to match their offense. Good thing he didn't go to New York. A pitcher w/ stress issues going to the Big Apple? Recipe for disaster.

They're putting all the eggs in the basket for Prince Fielder's last year. They see next year as their year to make a splash. I think they've given up a little too much and will probably miss the playoffs anyway.
