    Grady Sizemore

Who else has been hit harder by injuries in the last few years?

He was the young, up and coming 5 tool star but then injuries just totally wiped him away. I have barely heard him mentioned in 2-3 seasons, and my Tigers play the Indians 18 times a year. Usually with guys riddled by injuries, you hear about how they are riddled by injuries. But people don't even talk about him like that. He just like totally fell off the face of the baseball world.

The most press he has got in the last 2 years was his semi-pornographic self portraits.

Supposedly he is doing well, and may come into camp at 100%. Lets hope his injury woes are behind him. Lord knows the Indians need him.

The Indians should move him to LF to take some of the strain off of his body (ala Texas and Josh Hamilton).

Unfortunately for Indians fans a good healthy season for Sizemore probably means he gets traded at the deadline.

He hit posted a .211/.271/.289 line this year in 33 games. He hit 0 homeruns and drove in 13 RBI's.

I actually remember watching him play one game this season. He hit a homerun. But the game was washed away in the third inning so it never counted.

I remember all the time I used to get into fights about who was better, Sizemore or Granderson.

Granderson seemed to just lose total focus on baseball. He went from one of the best offensive seasons of all time in 2007 to being unable to hit for average or hit left handed pitching. He's just a mediocre player now, he regressed a ton since then.

And Sizemore's numbers have been on a decline for the most part since his 2006 season. He's almost 28. He plays almost out of control, always crashing into walls. It's hard to tell a guy to contain himself, but I think it might just lead to more injuries.

Unfortunately Sizemore is the prototypical guy with the bright future who got cut down by injuries. It's hard to believe a few years ago people were talking about him as a .300/30+ HR/100+ RBI guy.

You really need to lay off the over-exaggerated, unsupportable hyperbole. One of the best offensive seasons of all time? He had a .900 OPS, an excellent mark for sure, but hardly anything historical. And now he's just mediocre? An .800 OPS from the centerfield spot is still very good, especially when he's still a good defender, even if he can't hit lefties.

In 2007 he hit .300, had 20 doubles, 20 triples, 20 homeruns, and 20 steals.

That has been 4 times in major league history. Frank Schulte, Rollins (20 days after), And Willie Mays. If 4 players have done it in 100 years, I consider it historical.

Look at what he used to be. The engine that made the Tigers offense go. They had a great offense and he was behind it. In 2008 they didn't start to hit until he came back from injury. He was the premier catalyst in the game.

He was a .280-.300 hitter, 20+ Homers, 15+ Triples, 20+ Stolen bases, and 30+ doubles. He was slugging .500+ from the leadoff spot and getting on base at a good clip.

And now hes a .250 hitter. His power slighty increased, while his batting average dropped .50 points. He doesn't drive the ball to the gaps like he used to.

In 2009, he hit 30 HR and hit .250.

Against Left handed pitchers that year, he went .183/.245/.239. He hit 2 of his 30 HR off of LHP.

Last year he went .234/.292/.354. 4 of his 24 HR came off LHP.

Is he still a fine player? Yeah, solid all around player and a great clubhouse presence. But he is a HUGE liability agaisnt LHP. He is nothing like he used to be.

That shows how great he was. He's still a good player, but compared to what he was, it's night and day.

I love him, but the day he was traded we were all saying how he has basically become a platoon player. He doesn't hit for average anymore, and his power has barely increased. He is so involved with things off the field, which is great, but I feel that sometimes it distracts him from the game. He didn't seem like the same person (not player) on the field since 2008.
