MLB Network Top 10 Starting Pitchers

Is anyone watching this? This list is probably the worst they've had so far.

    10. Josh Johnson
    9. Justin Verlander
    8. Adam Wainwright
    7. Cliff Lee
    6. David Price
    5. Jon Lester
    4. C.C. Sabathia

That's what has been said so far. Really?? Jon Lester over Waino and Cliff Lee??
    MLB: St. Louis Cardinals
    NBA: New York Knicks
NFL: Houston Texans, St. Louis Rams
    NCAA: Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Heh yeah kind of a bad list but you can make arguments tho I suppose. With Josh Johnson immediately at #10 I assumed they were looking at the full body of work but then I see David Price ahead of Cliff Lee.
Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, Lightning

Halladay, Lincecum and Hernandez must be the top three.

Yeah I forgot about that. Having Chapman in there is just absurd.

Keep in mind that these lists are made by the staff at MLBN and this is only a polled opinion by MLBN employees. That being said it is no different than any of the various lists/topics on this forum.

Look at the list of 2B in the episode before the starting pitchers (hosted by Hazel Mae). Would anyone here consider Kelly Johnson a top 10 2B in the game right now?, but he was listed as #9. Topics to spark debate is what that is all about.

Exact point Rsox...they just want people talking about the show.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

That list is pretty laughable. LOL

He just had a top 5 season at his position, and had top 10 seasons in 2007 and 2008.

He's easily in the top 10, if anything #9 is underrating him.

Not going to rank them in order, but top 10 off the top of my head is probably.....

Halladay, Lee, Hernandez, Lincecum, Sabathia, Johnson, Wainwright, Verlander, Price, Jimenez.

Honorable mentions go to Lester, Carpenter, Hudson, Cain, Oswalt....etc

Re: MLB Network Top 10 Starting Pitchers

The problem with trying to do a top 10 list of starting pitchers compared to the other positions is that with the other positions there is only one player at that position on each team. Every team has 5 starting pitchers so there are 5 times more than any other position to choose from. Lots of guys are going to get left off.

I wonder if they are going to do a top 10 DH's because then the field is cut from 30 to 14 meaning only the "worst" 4 wouldn't make it (sounds like the NBA/NHL playoffs).

I agree, one of the most underrated players in baseball.
