If Wainwright is gone for the year despite what LaRussa says about finding his replacement internally don't be surprised to hear Kevin Millwood or Jeremy Bonderman's names come up regarding the Cardinals. Both could probably have huge years under Dave Duncan.

Wonder if STL would be interested in Lowe?

Lowe and Freeman for Pujols. Make it happen, Wren.

              Man....

But seriously, Lowe is probably too expensive for them anyway.

It would never happen (would be a stupid trade for both parties really), but I can dream at least.

To me thats what a rivalry all about hating the other team. While you should never want to see a guy get hurt especially something that can be very serious to a guys career but its still a heated rivalry. But lets remember Phillips running his mouth off last year then they ended up getting swept. If your going to talk you better be able to back it up is all i am going to say. I'm sure Gomes knew what he was doing and will probably end up getting thrown at for it. Should be a fun season because this is what rivalries is all about, screw those friendly rivalries.

Not only that, but Albert himself would likely shoot it down with his 10-5 rights.

A rivalry's about being happy to the point of singing when one of your rival's best players needs season ending surgery?

While i feel for Wainwright as he seems to be a very good person as well a 1 of the top pitchers end the game. I'm not sorry for the Cards organization because they are a hated rivalry. I'm sure thats all Gomez was doing or meaning. But i will agree you should not relish in a specific player needing something as serious as it sounds it is.

Yeah, Cardinals don't have the money most likely. Even their GM said their payroll is "leaking." Which makes Lowe way out of their price range at $15MM.

Yes, and there is no way Atlanta could re-sign Albert so they'd give up Freeman and lose Pujols. The good thing would be Lowe's contract being gone, which is why it would be stupid for STL.

Pujols doesn't get a deal done before the season, Punto has a hernia that keeps him out 8-12 weeks, and now Wainwright is done for the year.

Yep, shaping up to be a great season.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

yeah, thanks to Brandon, Cueto and Gomes, this year should be a very interesting year revolving around the Reds and the Cardinals. just hope we can actually win games against them this year
