Some of the posters here might not know who the Duke was...in the 1940's-1950's, often called the "Golden Age" of baseball in New York City, he was the Duke in "Willy, Mickey, and the Duke". Snider played CF for the Brooklyn from the late 1940's until they left for LA. Even though I never saw him play he has always been one of my favorite players. Sad day for the Dodgers...RIP.

I remember hearing stories of how it was always a heated argument about those 3 guys in NYC. Imagine if they played today and were all in NY. The media would be all over that and you'd hear so much about how great all three were.
The Duke seemed to be a quiet superstar who did it all with the bat and the glove and while i'm too young to remember his work for the Expos as a color commentator I do have a game he worked on in the late '70s!Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
