Well I think it's um pretty obvious why no one calls him Ramirez, that and noone else in baseball that I know of has the first name Manny.

You still need to hit the baseball, roids or no roids.
I only knew a few things about him and one was the dreads and the other was the signature swing. Glad to see he's not all bad.

He doesn't play like a HOF when he wants to. Even when you think he's not trying at all he is crushing the ball.

He can destroy a clubhouse, but he's a great guy to be around, people like him. He's one of the best hitters ever and he is clutch. But he is so good because of his work ethic. You don't think of him like that, but he is a work-aholic. Whether that's in the weight room or batting cage.

I think he will drive in 100 runs this year. He's healthy, in great shape, and the Rays have a solid lineup around him.

If someone compared him to Randy Moss, it was likely bc of how he pretty obviously quit playing when he was forcing his way out of Boston. He took "not running the bases" to a whole new level.

The comparison stops there though. But Moss also gets a bad and undeserved rap in many cases, so in that sense, I'd say you can compare the two there as well. Manny deserves some of the heat he gets, but doesn't deserve all of it by a long shot.

Manny's final spring training numbers this year:

                    .311/.377/.556 in 50 plate appearances. 3 HR, 10 RBI and a .933 OPS too.

I'll take that for 2 million bucks all day...

Once again, its Spring Training. Let's not crown him yet..

Case in point: Roy Halladay had a 0.42 ERA in 21.2 IP, a 0.92 WHIP, and 16 K's. No one is crowning him as the Cy Young this year due to those stats

Spring training or not, it means is that he is both healthy and motivated.

Is a healthy and motivated Manny Ramirez not worth a 2 million dollar gamble?

I'd say wait until at least the All Star break to make any assessments on his value

Arguing with a Philly fan is like playing tennis with a brick wall. You can't win and they can't reason.

Using 50 PA in Spring Training to determine a players value is great reason.

That wasn't even the point I was trying to make in the first place.
