Man, I can't remember any truly bizarre Braves things off the top of my head.

How about the Mississippi Braves' manager flipping out a couple years ago?

I can think of a few:

      1) 1990 - Braves/Mets and David Cone argues a call at 1st as runners on 2nd and 3rd round the bases and score.

      2) 1993 - The Press Box catches fire the day Fred McGriff arrives and then Atlanta takes off.

      3) 1991 - The Braves get 1-hit by the Pirates and win 1-0 on David Justice's oppo solo shot. This was the game with Otis Nixon's amazing catch on Andy Van Slyke's drive to right.

      4) 1991 - Steve Avery rips a home run in Candlestick Park (back when it was a chainlink fence), except the ump sees the ball bounce and thinks it's a ground rule double. The ball was clearly over the fence.

That's just a few I can think of...

One of my top five favorite catches of all time.

Oh, and the Padres beat the Giants last year in the same fashion, only their run was on a sacrifice fly.

2003 or 2004, probably 2004, Humberto Quintero was the catcher for the Padres in the game (I forget who) and I remember he received the cutoff throw near the pitchers mound and one of the baserunners was caught between third and home. Quintero decided to get him into a run down but completely forgot about the home plate and ate it. He still managed to recover and throw the guy out who decided to try for home after seeing Quintero fall face first into the mound.

The fire was definitely bizarre. The catch and the circumstances behind it were definitely weird, but I don't know if they qualify as bizarre. I guess that's just one of those "things".

I was a bit too young to remember that Avery homer....my first real baseball memories were of the World Series that year. Obviously too young to remember the Coney argument too.

As a Marlins fan my favorite bizarre moments are

                1) Game 5 of the 1997 NLCS when Eric Gregg had a strike zone wide enough for a truck to drive through

                2) October 14, 2003 or more commonly known as The Steve Bartman Incident. Bartman of course was the unlucky one out of 15 people that was reaching for the ball to touch it. Cubs fans everywhere finally had someone other than ownership to blame for the misfortunes of the franchise.

I don't know if this qualifies as a bizarre moment but when I was at a AAA Buffalo Bisons game they made a triple play.

Idk if it's really bizzare but it was kinda wierd to see atleast, last year Gaby Sanchez clotheslining Nyjer Morgan

Chris Coghlan hurting himself with a pie.

Still don't know why he thought he could knock the ball out of Pudge's glove. Aurilia was assigning him the best chance to make it to the plate, and he did everything but that.

While certainly not classed as "favorite", this is certainly my most bizarre, unforgettable moment as a Cub fan.

June 22, 2002 and the Cards and Cubs (and fans) are gearing up for another game in the NL Central rivalry. But something was wrong....the game didn't start. After a while, Joe Girardi (then the Cubs catcher) walked out onto Wrigley Field and, in tears, delivered this message:

""I thank you for your patience. We regret to inform you because of a tragedy in the Cardinal family, that the commissioner has canceled the game today."

Just surreal. Darryl Kile had passed away of a heart attack earlier that morning, as we all came to find out (and the why's of it too, unfortunately).

                            RIP.

A close second in bizarre was when they actually played the game the following Sunday night - the atmosphere (players, fans, everyone) was as somber as I've ever seen it at a baseball game.

From the 5th inning on, Dave Stieb, who still has the only no-hitter in Jays history, was in the bullpen cheering against Halladay getting it. Higginson's HR ball landed in the Blue Jay bullpen, and I bet you can guess who caught it off the bounce.
I remember that game. It was the epitome of a getaway game as both teams were not going anywhere and it seemed everyone just wanted to get the day over with. I think the game barely broke an hour and a half. Actually.....(looking it up) Wow yeah it was only an hour and 45 minutes!

Anyways has Stieb confirmed that he was rooting against Halladay that day? I don't think he did but it's not surprising if true. I know that when Morrow nearly threw his No-No Stieb was very appreciative of his effort and drove home the fact that it's one of those things where you may never come that close again.

Dave Stieb can easily be classified as a prick during his playing days. He was one of the most intense players i've ever seen. He was quite famous for glaring at fielders when he thought they didn't make a good play or outright yelling at his teamates in the dugout at times. When he made his comeback in '98 he was a lot more mellow but the man still had/has pride and vanity so a part of him wants to keep as many records and achievements as possible. Like I said in the latter half of my first response he was very appreciative of Morrow's effort and has generally mellowed to the point that he's okay with the way things went in his career. I think he knows deep down that Halladay has overtaken him as the greatest Blue Jay SP ever but he also knows that for a certain generation he's the #1 guy.

Stieb is a very interesting guy though.

2 years ago, Yankees Mets, Yankees down by 1, 2 outs in the 9th, A-Rod pops up to Luis Castillo, he drops it, and 2 runs score. Funny video of a Met fan here:
