Why does it matter if he bats 3rd?

I like the third hitter to be better with RISP, and Dunn's average with RISP is .231, compared to .281 from Konerko or .286 from Rios.

The opposite of class was the way the Blue Jay fans were acting. That was embarrassing like when Knoblauch came back to the Metrodome.

I like the third hitter to be better with RISP, and Dunn's average with RISP is .231, compared to .281 from Konerko or .286 from Rios.

The 3rd spot in the order comes typically comes up with fewer runners on base than the 4th and 5th spots. So you should actually be happy that he's there and not Konerko/Rios.

I'm also excited we get to start off the year with Joe West and Angel Hernandez consecutively behind the plate. Both managers had to love seeing this crew to start the year. Hopefully they can't get back through customs.

I suppose that's true, though ideally the only thing Dunn could do to put another runner in scoring position would be to walk or ground into a fielders choice. I'm still sort of concerned his tendency to strikeout will kill a few 1st inning rallies.

The 3rd spot in the order also comes up with the bases empty more frequently than any other. With Dunn posting a (likely) near .400 OBP I would expect him to start more 1st inning rallies than kill them.

Of all the possible things to worry about, Dunn should be pretty close to the bottom of the list.

The Pirates will probably be better this year, but I think it helps that they're playing the Cubs.

I was shocked they did not call the Braves game sooner. It is hailing and Werth is still batting come on Blue. They finally call it.
