I know I already knew this, but it just occurred to me how much of a baseball nut I am. The NCAA championship is on and I am flipping between 3 baseball games and didn't even realize it. Love this game.

The ESPN announcer's reaction to that ball at 1-2 Rivera threw to Valencia was absolutely sickening.

You should have heard Michael Kay's...I can only imagine ESPN's.

It's Rivera, he's supposed to get a minimum extra half-foot in all directions, duh.

Their analysis reminded me of the equivalent of the asinine idea in the NBA of vets getting a call that a rookie has to earn.

Just got back from Camden Yards. I've been to 2 straight opening days at Camden Yards. I don't know how long it will last, but if the O's are playing good baseball Camden Yards is Awesome!!!!! So much fun tonight. The fans are 100% behind Buck Showalter. He got the biggest ovation out of all the O's.

I don't think the O's are a fluke. Since Showalter took over they are playing over .600 baseball and that is in close to 70 games. I don't know if they can win the AL East, but I don't see them being the doormat they had become. It should be a fun summer for O's fans.

A pitch that was just inside on a 1-2 count was called a ball. Mo, who usually doesn't react, actually turned and walked behind the mound in disgust. Michael Kay commented on how the ump is a newer ump who doesn't realize Mo is supposed to get that call.

The ESPN guy was like "Ooooooooh. Valencia, you are lucky to still be up there"

Sutcliffe deadpans something like "Well, it was a ball, I give him credit for taking it"

Despite my comments earlier today I don't think the O's are a fluke either. Buck Showalter has a knack for getting teams to buy into his philosophy and playing great baseball. He has a relatively short shelf life though but that shouldn't be anyone's concern for at least 3-4 years from now. I think what the O's needed badly and what Showalter brings is a commitment to playing sound baseball and playing smart.

Now, history dictates that the O's will fall back somewhere between what we saw when Showalter showed up and the horrid baseball of before but you never know in this game. It'd be nice to see the O's do well even though their owner is a jackass.

I kinda would like to see the O's and Jays battling it out in the AL East LOL! That'd be like the old days of '89 all over again.

                              Rivera the greatest!

Not bitter. I don't expect a win. I do expect balls to be called balls.
