Right-hander Roy Oswalt has left the Philadelphia Phillies for personal reasons, the team announced Wednesday, saying there is no expected date for his return.

But what does "leave" mean? Bereavement list? Some other form of inactivity? I just don't get it and I hope that everything here is okay. I'd much rather hear that he's taking a leave because he isn't having fun in Philly for some reason (which would be weird), as opposed to some personal family matter.

Oswalt is from Mississippi, so the dangerous storms that went through there may have something to do with it...

Certainly hope that's not the case though, just speculation.

It's a leave of absence. Wish him and his family the best. He was on the phone for a very long time before his last start and allegedly couldn't get in touch with any of his family. That would explain why he wasn't "on"
