Without Loaiza the White Sox aces would be Burehle and Colon.

Without Halladay the Blue Jays ace would be Corey Lidle...

If we're going by consistency the Blue Jays ace would be the streaky and flaky Kelvim Escobar!

Anyone still debating this issue should look here:

            Stat Comparision

Of course it doesn't take into account the quality of opponents faced, but with a better WHIP, more Wins, 7 more CG's, 2 more shutouts, almost 50 more IPs, way fewer walks, more strikeouts (only by 1 I know), and a way better winning percentage how could you not pick Halladay?

Because of his ERA is .31 higher than Loazia's in more games and pitching at home in a hitter's park? If so you know nothing about baseball.

I was thinking Loaiza up untill recently... but Halliday's current run has me looking his way. Too bad Tim Hudson has not had better run support/bullpen help *as my signature alludes to*

                  http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/player...e?statsId=6245

Ranks 8th in AL in W (15) • Ranks 2nd in AL in IP (227.0)
                  • Ranks 10th in AL in SO (150) • Ranks 2nd in AL in ERA (2.66)
                  • Ranks 3rd in AL in WHIP (1.06) • Ranks 5th in AL in WPct (.714)
                  • Ranks 7th in AL in CG (3) • Ranks 3rd in AL in BAA (.221)

Beautiful numbers.... Can anyone honestly say without more help from the team he would not be cy young? Oh and a quick note his run support is worse than it looks. He has had a few games with huge support to skew the numbers... Ahh well that is why the games are played. Halliday is my new fave followed by Loiaza and then my boy Huddy.

Yeah, this Loaiza is more valuable argument is not only missing the point but it's completely unfounded. The Jays might have the worst pitching staff in baseball without Halladay. Seriously. He's awesome. He's the Cy Young and he deserves MVP votes based purely on the ammount of innings he goes out there. And I suspect he'll get a few votes now that half the guys running for the AL MVP have dropped anchor.
