You can say all you want but it was dick move by cousin. Even Mike said so and he was a catcher. But what Sab said was wrong, it was the heat of the moment. Cousin had a open side of the dish to slide but he figure he would take out Posey. It happens but it is a rule that I would like to see changed though. They did it for QB's why not catchers. Fielder ended one of the Giants back up catcher two years ago. So maybe some days the rule will be change to protect the catcher.

These guys are nothing more than modern-day gladiators... I don't feel sorry for any of them. Just keep playing the game and when you can't play any more, we'll get someone else in there who can. Those are the breaks

True. I do agree with that. I don't really follow other teams. So if I did I would have felt the same way as I do with Posey's injury. I just don't like those plays.

Agreed. Francisco Cervelli got railroaded by someone from the Rays in Spring Training, no less. Those games didn't even count and there was no backlash. It's a part of baseball. If you don't want to get railroaded, get out of the way. I don't think they should change the rule, I think catchers should get out of the way.

Get the F over it already Giants and their fans, what Watson said it happens.. It was clean and is apart of the game, I just pray the MLB doesn't go Bret Favre and change the rules cause of this. Poesy just happened to get injured, with all kinds of agents and Giants this bitter I almost don't feel sorry anymore

Huff looks back and if he is and Sandoval comes back strong the Giants will be really strong. Also Brian is a very emotional guy. So what he said is wrong, but this team is like family to him.

Yup cause making a completely legal clean play makes him a punk, he's apologized right after,etc and everything. I don't care what his team is to him, Cousins has already received death threats, him and his family actually live in SF, and your GM basically goes out an incites your fanbase? I'm don with this topic

When you have options I don't think that is always a clean play. Cousins plays hard trying to make a name for himself. He is trying to impress his teammates and coaches. So he goes in for a play that would show that. Can't blame him, but he had a piece of the plate to slide. So in my mind that is a punk move. Even if my player did that I would call it a punk move.

Lol death threats have always been a part of the game. That will never change. Just ask Mitch Williams. It happens. This is a crazy world. The Giants fans didn't take revenge on Dodgers fans, because of Stow. It is what it is.

I'm not crazy about collisions at the plate, and if they can find an effective way to change/add a rule to protect catchers, I'm all for it.

That being said, the play by Cousins was 100% clean, and Giants fans only have the current rules and culture of the game to be mad at, if anything.. but definitely not Cousins.

Could he have avoided a collision by sliding around Posey? Yeah, he could have, but that doesn't change anything. It was a tie ballgame in extra innings, and Cousins had to make a split second decision on a very close play at the plate. If Posey had caught the ball a half second earlier, he probably would've put himself in better position to block the plate anyways. But none of that matters... The play was close enough to justify the collision. I don't like that baseball players are allowed to do this, but it's still a clean baseball play, and it's always been that way.

You can't put that on Cousins, or label him dirty. It just isn't fair. If roles had been reversed, and someone from the Giants had taken out John Buck in the same fashion, no one would given two ****s about it, ESPECIALLY Giants fans. It would just be a tough baseball play, and the media wouldn't be paying 1% of the attention they're paying to Posey, simply because he's one of the top prospects in the game, and a World Series hero.

Riiight.. Death threats have always been part of the game, and will never change, but Cousins is a punk for making a baseball play, that is in fact, actually part of the game.


Like I already said, I have no problem with the rules being changed to protect catchers. Personally, I really don't see the need for them to be part of the game. But that doesn't change the fact that they are, and that it has been that way for a very long time. And until that changes, Giants fans would do well to find someone else to take out their anger on. Because whining about Cousins is just making most baseball fans lose any respect they have for the Giants, their organization, and their fans.
