And Phil pitched awful the entire second half of this year, and was getting beat up worse this year. He is far from the missing piece of our team this year.
How else are you considered overrated if you are are not over-publicized? The list posted is chock full of major market players. Ironically enough, there are no Phillies players....

Speaking of which, id consider Ryan Madson a better reliever than Joba, but more people probably knoe of Joba moreso than Madson.

If anything, it looks like just noone really cares about teams out of the ESPN spotlight.
No one has been arguing with you about that; I kind of mentioned that in my first post. Overratedness is exactly that, nobody is saying differently.

Re: MLB Players Poll: Most Overrated Player

Really, people are arguing over this dumb list?

It listed a man closing in on 700 career home runs and 2,000 RBI as the most overrated player in baseball.

It listed the man likely to beat him in those categories as the 16th most overrated player in baseball.

And people are going to take this list seriously to argue over? If people were arguing over how real this list was, I'd get it. To argue over the individual players on the list, come on!

        Be smart.

Being a huge Mets fan and living in NY I will defend Jeter here, he is in no way and never been overrated IMO, the guys numbers are truly of a Hall of Famer, as he will sit in the hall on his first ballet I know it.

Jeter has been ratted where he should be and thats among the elite and him on that list is just stupid.

Why don't we have a list made of the Most Underrated players, and think that list will be even better.

Yup, just like the nfl most overrated, there is a major bias. LOL at Swisher on this list. If Brett Gardner gets a decent contract one day he'll be on there too. What a joke. Next they will have a top 100 voted by the players and that will be the real joke.

I guess I don't have to reiterate that overratedness has nothing to do with how good you are?

You don't have to. I think most people get that, but the list is still broken and reeks of jealousy from players in the league.

There is no way someone like Albert Pujols should be on that list. How is a man that has done what he's done in his career overrated? I'd argue that he's underrated because people still don't really appreciate what they are witnessing.

And maybe a guy like Nick Swisher is overrated in New York. I've said that before and many other Yankee fans have agreed. But across the country? Who cares about Swisher? ESPN hardly even talks about him.

The truth is Swisher was always a headline type guy because he was a flamboyant character while in Oakland. Everyone loved talking about his long hair, goatee and excitement on the field. And he was wearing green and gold then. Nothing's changed but that he's won a ring.

Well, let me put it this way: Even since Bonds was on the scene, people have claimed that Albert Pujols was the best overall player in baseball. Now obviously Bonds didn't have the glove or the speed anymore, and though he still had the bat, I'm not sure which one I would take in the "overall" category, but I still disagreed. Because of that, I find him overrated (people rating him higher than I think he is), and that's all the term means.

Now obviously, that's my opinion. You have yours that he is underrated, and I am not going to say that you're wrong on your own opinion. That's the main reason this article reeks to me IMO, because it's just an opinionated list (by the players, remember).

Yea, I think we're getting at the same thing. That's why I find it stupid to argue over. It's all an opinion and therefore really shouldn't matter at all.

Really? As much as I hate the Yankees, the are most certainly not the most overrated team in sports. The 27 world championships say otherwise and teams would love to have their history.
