Ricky Romero Speaks out, He's right and wrong kinda

After losing to the Braves last Night Romero said in the post game interview that the jays offence need to "step up" and that "it cant just be two guys pulling all the weight or we wont win ball games" Talking about Lind and Bautista as the those one or two guys.

Calling out a teammate is usually wrong but I dunno when its a group and they really are playing like garbage and youre a starter do u really blame the guy?

    What are your thoughts?

Im jaded, I like that he said it, but Im also fed up with alot of the offensive woes Toronto has had latley so im just glad its getting noticed more. But I can see how people think its bad to call out players

I agree with Gregg Zaun, Romero is well within his rights to complain about the lack of hitting and the over dependence on Bautista and Lind. He shouldn't have apologized as I think the guy's a bonafide leader in the clubhouse.

Anyways it looks like the bats are STONE COLD right now

It's sad because the Blue Jays are only a bat or two and some bullpen help away from overcoming the Yanks and Red Sox.

I love when athletes are completely honest and don't give us the same cliches day in and day out. It's refreshing, especially coming from Romero who has definitely become a big-time pitcher. This is much different from say Zambrano shooting his mouth off about the Cubs troubles...

        I side with Romero.

I guarantee you the hitters agree. If Romero was sucking I bet he would say that he needs to step up.

I'm sorry, he may be right, but it's just not something you say outside of the clubhouse.
I doubt that the other 22 players he's referring to are dogging it and that would be the only reason to even say it(TO THEM)
IMO it's unprofessional to call out your teammates like that.

            CG shutout

            2-RBI

If he's a leader in the clubhouse I support him saying his guys need to step it up. He sure as hell did today.

ND....he's playing phenomenal right now.....no doubt.

But you're on the job....like me(and I was once on the same job)....and you know...it's very much like professional teams. Very competitive between units, squads, precincts and in my case houses. You always want your guys to be the best of the bunch and if yours is anything like mine....there is plenty of rivalry between the groups.
Now if things weren't going so smoothly at jobs for your guys for a bit...and one of the guys in your precinct was yapping about it to another precinct or(God forbid) in the papers, if it's anything like here....there would be a nice little blanket party with a Motorola shampoo for that lad.
My point..."what you see here, what is said here, let it stay here."

Good for him..I wish Justin Verlander would do the same. He's taken 2 losses in Complete games this year.

He went 9 agaisnt a strong Texas offense, lost 2-1.

And just recently, I guess it wasn't a CG, he went 8 2/3 innings, gave up 1 run, and took a loss.

Tigers offense disappears too often. I wish somebody would say something, to light a spark and get things rolling.

Do you guys think these are the first pitchers in MLB history to have this happen to them?

Ummm the Tigers are 5th in the AL in runs scored. 2 games out of all of Verlander's starts where they did not provide him run support does not really equate to the Tigers have problems scoring runs conclusion.

As far as Ricky Romero he may want to point the finger at his fellow pitchers, rather than the Jay's offense. The Jay's have scored the 4th most runs in the AL, meanwhile they are 10th in the AL in ERA. Romero has been holding up his end of the bargain, but the rest of the Jay's pitching staff has been incredibly poor, that is why the Jays are below five hundred.

You're a Tigers fan, you know how they play. They will score 10 runs a game for a week, then they won't be able to score the next week. They have been that inconsistent for a few years.

When they do hit, they hit a ton, so their total numbers look pretty solid. But there's weeks where they won't do anything at the plate. Can't hit with runners on base. The streakyness balances out in the totals.

They have 4 of the top 15 hitters in the AL, they disappear way too often for being as good as they are. Look at them tonight, the strongest lineup they could possibly put on the field, with a struggling pitcher on the mound. They get 7 hits, 6 singles, 0-4 with RISP, leave 9 men on base, and the only runs come off of Cabrera going yard. Like a flashback of the whole 2009 season.

I love them more than anybody, but I can't hide how they are. They disapear too much.

Peralta and Avila. I read that about a week ago, but I think it has changed. Avila dipped to .286 from .307. (It was top in batting average)

Every team plays like this...it's baseball. My Braves drive me crazy with games like last night where they score 11. Watch these next two days they'll score a total of 5.
