    Is Ryan Vogelsong An Allstar?

As a Giants fan i want an unbiased opinion from you guys on the forums. If you dont know the story of Ryan Vogelsong its a good one. Drafted by the Giants in 2001 and couldnt find the zone went over to japan for a couple of years came back and the Giants signed him on a minor league deal this year. This year he has been arguably the most consistent Starter on a star studded Giants pitching staff. Vogelsong has also been one of the best starters in the league since he was called up to replace the injured Barry Zito in the 5th spot of the rotation. The Numbers dont lie see for yourself:

    5-1 Record
    1.86 ERA
    72.2 IP
    57 SO
    .217 BA against
    1.09 WHIP

Oh and one last thing with Bruce Bochy being the manager of the NL Allstar Team. The National League might look harder at Vogelsong to be added to the roster because Bochy knows first hand how good Vogey has been

Starting pitching is absolutely stacked right now so it would be hard to make an argument for him, especially when he isn't even one of the two best starting pitchers on his own team.

Plus, he's only started 10 games and we all want to see more.

It doesn't matter because the ballot procedure is broken. And do we really need more than one Ryan Vogelsong thread?

Ballots have nothing to do with whether Vogelsong makes it since the fans don't vote for the pitchers.

Doubtfull he would make it with the years guys like Halladay, Gallardo, Jurrjens, Hamels, Kennedy, and others are having.

I don't think you can say it would be hard to make an argument for him. seems like his stats make it pretty easy. regardless of just the 10 starts - I remember last year when Strasburg had made like 8 starts by the All-Star break and everyone was calling for him to make it.

and so what if he's not even one of the best 2 pitchers on his team? he's 2nd in wins, and if he had the innings to qualify, he'd be leading the starters in ERA. Smoltz wasn't one of the 2 best starters on his team, but that never made him any less worthy of All-Star consideration (no, I'm not comparing Vogelsong to Smoltz)

If he had those numbers on a team that can hit. He would have a record of 9-1 or 10-0. He will be an allstar is he continues this pace. And he has been the Giants ace this year. Heck I feel like we are going to win when he pitches. Even over Timmy, Cain.

He should... This is not about name recognition, it (should be) about 1st half performance. This is not about "projected" performance but who has played the best baseball thus far. Vogelsong IS and the numbers prove it...

2nd best ERA in the NL? Guess he doesn't qualify to be on the stat board but his 2.14 is between Jurrjens and Hammels.

Yep needed three more outs and he would have qualified.

Johnny Cueto has very similar stats and isn't in

No doubt that Vogelsong is having a good first half, just not worthy of an all star appearance IMO

                          84.1 IP, 70 hits allowed, 68 K with a 6-1 record, and a 1.15 WHIP

His ERA is the best on the Giants staff, and that's a pretty damn good pitching staff.

And Vance Worley has the lowest ERA of any Phillies starter

How many games has he started. And don't include yesterdays. Because the pick was pick before yesterday's games.
