Re: Thoughts on the Resurgent Pirates?
Jeez...It's nuts but this is the first time the Bucs have been .500 or better at the All Star Break since 1992!
That's just MIND BOGGLING!
I'm keeping an eye on this team. I don't think they'll make the playoffs this year but they'll hang around til mid to late August. If the Pirates keep some of their young kids with talent and augment that with some veteran leadership than I could see good things in the next couple years.

Re: Thoughts on the Resurgent Pirates?
Always been a fan of both the Pirates and the Rockies, I'm glad to see the Bucs succeed, Clint Hurdle is doing a great job as manager just like he did in 2007 when he took the Rockies to the WS. It's great to see a team that as struggled for many years being competitive.Comment

Re: Thoughts on the Resurgent Pirates?
I'm glad the Pirates are playing good baseball again. However, I can't root for them to finish any higher than second due to them being in the same division as the Cardinals.
It's always good for baseball to have good teams in good baseball towns though. Pittsburgh and Kansas City for that matter are both very good baseballl towns and deserve to have good teams. It should be an exciting summer for Pirate fans. Just stay behind the Redbirds and everything will be cool with me.Comment

Re: Thoughts on the Resurgent Pirates?
I love seeing the Pirates playing competitive baseball. I've been playing as them in MLB 2K11 since that game came out, and their real-life success has made it all the more better.
Andrew McCutchen and Neil Walker are very good young pieces to build around, and if Pedro Alvarez can get it going over the 2nd half the Pirates could be a dark horse favorite to win the NL Central.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

How about that standing ovation for McCutchen when it was announced he made the All Star Game? That was awesome.Comment

I hope the Pirates can make a move to help improve this team at the break. But I hope they make the right moves and don't just make a move for the sake of doing so. We could use a solid young ballplayer who would be willing to sign an extension and play for this club for years to come. The time to dish out a little cash is now. We've built a great team through the farm/trades and fans are excited and coming out in droves. We might just be 1 move away from being put over the top.NFL: Green Bay Packers

Re: Thoughts on the Resurgent Pirates?
I too have enjoyed watching the Buccos this season so far. It has been great watching them raise the Jolly Roger after a win (especially against the Phillies and Bo Sox). I used to get so frustrated hearing Baseball Commentators refer to the Pirates as the Farm Team for the rest of the Majors! Maybe now the team will continue this positive momentum and silence the critics and their snide comments. GO BUCS!Comment
