overlooking Manny's importance to this team should be a crime.

As for Yankee fans voting for Jorge. Someone please shoot them. Jorge doesn't even have 100 RBI yet and can't touch .300.

And how are those stats more important than OPS and runs created every 27 outs?

Re: David Ortiz for AL MVP

                  to be more elaborate:

                  <font class="small">Code:</font><hr /><pre>
                  Jorge: .404 OBP, .913 OPS
                  Giambi: .412 OBP, .944 OPS
                  Johnson: .434 OBP, .936 OPS
                  </pre><hr />
I think OBP and OPS are two of the most important stats in baseball. (that and runs)

                  real quick:
                  <font class="small">Code:</font><hr /><pre>
                  Giambi: 96 Runs
                  Posada: 82 Runs
                  Johnson: 60 Runs
                  </pre><hr />
I think highly of OBP. VERY HIGHLY. In fact, more highly than batting average. In my opinion, there shouldn't be a batting title (by average), but instead an ON-BASE title b/c that's what baseball is really about. Getting on base.

According to those stats, Jorge isn't the most productive Yankee. The reason why I brought up the RBI and average argument is because the writers (that vote) ALWAYS look at RBI and average. If it's low, you just won't win (unless you are the overrated Ichiro). It's too bad, but that's how it is.

edit: I said most productive Yankee. That's a mistake b/c MVP shouldn't be about production. Of course some writers don't understand that. (read: Ichiro...yea, I didn't like him being MVP)

The fact is the Yanks struggled when Giambi struggled. yea they got off to that quick start, but that's more because of their pitching. After that they slid and so did Giambi. All of a sudden Giambi gets hot and the Yanks get hot. Coincidence? I think not.

You may even say Jeter is more valuable to the Yanks than Posada.

Of course the real problem with the Yanks is that everyone works in sessions. There is never ONE valuable Yankee for a whole season. Like the Red Sox, it's always someone else at a different time.

However, in my opinion, Manny and Giambi have been the most valuable to their teams. I do understand this is just an opinion, too.

Ok. I was just checking to see what your opinion on OPS was because you made it sound like Posada should not get it because he doesn't have 100 rbis. I knew that if you posted their OPSes Giambi would deserve it over Posada.
