Padres owner tells 32-year-old Mike Adams "you're not going anywhere", and that the asking price for him is higher than Heath Bell, the team asking for at least two Top 100 prospects.

Posturing. But it's either Mike Adams or Heath Bell that gets traded. Moorad should just shut his mouth and let his GM do the job and focus on finally paying off the team and bringing up payroll.

The asking price will come down on Mike Adams. Wilson Ramos was a top 100 prospect and even if Mike Adams is better, you're only going to get one at most.

Just can't stand Gomes, Cueto, and Phillips. Doesn't hurt that Gomes celebrated Wainwright's injury like a punk.

As a Tigers fan, I like it a lot... moreso as an offensive upgrade. I like that they added a very decent switch hitter to the lineup. Should be able to hold down 3rd defensively along with super-utility man Kelly.

There is an emotional attachment to Inge, for most fans since he was there thru the worst of times, but I think it was time for change.

                  More Beltran rumors..

Mets are still "insisting on a high-end prospect" for Beltran, according to Buster Olney: http://twitter.com/#!/Buster_ESPN/st...05487816818689

Buster also says that the Brewers will acquire Beltran if they can "scrape together a package" for him:

Not sure where he would fit unless they deal Nyjer Morgan, but they're just rumors.

Yeah that's a pretty accurate post there. The Jays are trying to get rid of some of the vet relievers they acquired/have mainly because they're afraid some of them will accept arbitration after the season rather than walk. So it's imperative they get rid of these guys.

As for the inquiring of SD's relievers including Bell, i'm in favor of that. I think Heath Bell is pretty good and Lord knows the Jays need a real closer STAT!

Fredi Gonzalez says the Braves want a RH hitter who can play all OF positions. That probably leaves out Gomes, right? Can he field, Reds fans?

Heh, I know how you feel about Brandon Inge, but there was no way that he would get outright released. He's still loved by a lot of folks in this town -- including perhaps the most important guy in Mr. Ilitch -- and doing that would've created a hell of a PR disaster.

Even though Inge will be only a call-up away from returning to the big league club, I don't envision him playing in Detroit for the rest of this year... or maybe ever. I think that keeping Inge in the organization will help provide the Tigers some leverage while negotiating with Wilson Betemit and his agent on ironing out some kind of one- or two-year contract during the upcoming offseason.

An interestingly low rate, compared to the other sports I follow.
