I really don't understand all this interest in Beltran. Sure he's having a nice year this year but he's a player that has had diminishing returns in the last few years.

BTW yesterday I read a report that the Cubs are willing to pay a majority of Soriano's contract in order to trade him.

Ya, I'm with you SPTO. I have a feeling Beltran will breakdown late in the year and hit the DL. Somebody is going to overpay for him and I hope its not the Braves.

I think everyone is flashing back to 2004 and how big a spark Beltran was to the Astros that season and the ridiculous postseason numbers he put up. Knowing that Beltran is playing for a contract next season also means teams are probably not afraid of him breaking sown as he will probably do anything to stay on the field.

Beltran can be a nice piece in the right lineup. The Phillies and Red Sox ofer other offensive weapons unlike a team like the Giants where Beltran would be looked at to have to be a big producer in the middle of their lineup.

He's had a pretty nice year. I'd take a chance on him but in no way would I give a top prospect for him, which i believe is pretty close to what the mets are wanting.

Please someone take a chance on Soriano.

The Cubs could be willing to pay all of Soriano's salary and throw a few million as well and they still would not find anyone to take Soriano off their hands.
No one is going to want to have to find a place for him for 3 more years beyond this season.

D'Backs and Blue Jays are discussing a deal for Jason Frasor, though a deal is not close:

There is "increasing chatter around the Mets" that suggest Beltran will be headed to the Giants:

Interesting, Frasor is a very good back of the bullpen guy but he's absolutely painful to watch. He's one of the slowest pitchers in the league.

Wonder what the Jays could get in return for him if he's dealt.

Nationals are actively shopping Ian Desmond:

Apparently the Red Sox and Giants are some of his suitors..

The Giants remain the favorites for Beltran, but Texas is coming hard:

Man....how far sports reporting has come that we are now getting updates on athletes' clothing. May have seen it all. Doubtful. But may have.

Matt Thornton would make sense, I'm just not sure about Edwin Jackson. seems like a good deal but i thought the price for Rasmus was pretty high.

I did to..but the last couple months I guess his stock or whatever you call has went down..We just need to get Rasmus out of here, even though he's doing great in my MLB The Show and I go by real life transactions
