Re: 2011 MLB Trade Deadline Thread
That's good to hear. There probably getting something of Value due to the fact they are probably covering more than half of the 4.7 Mil left on his deal.

Re: 2011 MLB Trade Deadline Thread
to be fair, guys with as good of OBP as Fukudome are pretty rare. If he can get on base at a slightly higher clip, that allows everyone to move down a peg in the lineup and gives Asdrubal and Hafner a chance to hit with someone on the bases.
Plus, it gets one of our ****ty *** outfielders out of the lineup.Comment

Re: 2011 MLB Trade Deadline Thread
Fukudome can play any of the OF positions pretty well, so he can plug in where needed.Comment

Melky Cabrera's out of the Royals lineup: is it a day off?
Prob, but I think they're more likely to trade him than Francoeur.Comment

Re: 2011 MLB Trade Deadline Thread
"Abreu, 21, is hitting .244/.294/.429 in 367 plate appearances in his second stint at High-A. Prior to the 2010 season, Baseball America ranked him 23rd among Indians prospects, describing him as a player who has offensive tools but 'remains raw at the plate.' Smith, 25, has a 4.50 ERA, 9.0 K/9, 3.9 BB/9, and 0.8 HR/9 in 46 Triple-A relief innings, his second stint at the level."
EDIT: More, first on Abreu:
"Abreu was once considered a pretty exciting prospect, but is batting just .244/.294/.429 with 12 homers, 35 RBI and 19 stolen bases this season in his second season with High-A Kingston. The good news is that he's still only 21 years old, but he's unlikely to reach the majors."'
On Smith:
"Smith, 25, has a 4.50 ERA and 46/20 K/BB ratio over 46 innings with Triple-A Columbus this season. He was moved to the bullpen in 2009 and has a decent chance to make it as a middle reliever in the big leagues."Last edited by philliesfan136; 07-28-2011, 11:47 AM.Comment

Re: 2011 MLB Trade Deadline Thread
There's been little substantial dialogue between the Phillies and Padres about Heath Bell:

I wanna add this that I found on those two:

Oh well. Maybe Abreu can suprise some people and do something seeing he is only 21, but probably not.
Just glad to have got rid of one of the few cancers left on the team.Comment
