Jim Bowden is saying that the Tigers are out of the Kuroda sweepstakes.

Kuroda has apparently told the Dodgers he would not approve a trade to Cleveland or Detroit.

I could see the Tigers getting Jason Marquis though. 8-5 ERA under 4.00 already makes him better than Brad Penny and the host of pitchers they've used in the 5th spot.

Lack of interest around the league for Jeremy Guthrie is not that surprising as i don't think many teams want to trade for a pitcher who could lose 20 games this season for the stretch run.

It's a very thin market for starting pitching right now, not a lot of options available. A name we have not heard much of is Carlos Zambrano. Even though he is only 7-6 he gets terrible run support as the Cubs have not scored more than 5 runs in any of his starts this season, he could probably help some team. Zambrano may be the perfect example of a guy that needs a change of scenery and he has already made it clear he would gladly accept a trade out of Chicago.

I'm undecided on Brown. I'm getting pretty sick of his terrible fielding. With all that athleticism and speed, you'd expect he would field better.. He's also pretty inconsistent at the plate too. He has the potential to be a great player, but I'm really leaning towards throwing him in for Pence f they want him + Singleton.
It might seem like a high price to pay, but Singleton is blocked by Howard anyway and Brown hasn't exactly lived up to the hype.
