I didn't say he didn't intentionally hit him, I was asking if Rollins stealing was the match to the flame.

Well, the Reds are down 11-3 to the Cubs in the bottom of the 6. Looks like were on our way to losing 3 in a row, at the hands of the Cubs and Astros.

Meanwhile the Cubs look like they are going to make it 7 straight wins.

I think the reason you don't steal with a sizable lead is the risk/reward of attempting a steal isn't as meaningful.

Thank you. This is exactly what I was saying earlier. This doesn't have to do with an unwritten rule regarding having respect for another team who is losing. It is much costlier if you are thrown out, than it is beneficial if you make it to the bag.

Put it around the other way: say you're down by two runs in the last inning. Well, two runs is what you need. When your lead-off hitter comes up, it doesn't matter if he hits a 500 foot home run or draws a walk. The only thing that matters is that he doesn't get out, because for the tying run to score, there needs to be somebody else to safely score as well. So, if you reach first base, the only benefit to advancing to second base in this case is to stay out of a force/double play. Otherwise, you're coming around to score anyway if the person behind you needs to score. In this situation, if you can't reach an extra base with 100% certainty, you are just being foolish.

The same could be said here, though the risk is slightly lower. There just isn't a reason to steal in some of these situations, if getting out is much worse than advancing to the next base in this regard.

Well fellow Phillies fans, we are off to another great start, I hope we have a bag full of elbow pads for the team for later.

Lawrie looked great last night....well with the bat. His defense at 3rd was shaky at best but i'm sure he'll improve over time as that was one of the things the Jays had to see from him before calling him up.

Good win by the Jays last night and we have Morrow pitching tonight. Hopefully he'll have a better outing this time around.

Away from the Jays for a sec: Boy has Pittsburgh really imploded! Hopefully ownership and management sees the progress they made for most of the year and try to augment the good pieces they have right now with savvy bargain basement FAs next year.

I have no idea how this ball just stayed fair, but I'll take it. Uggla is at 27 straight.

Also, a little fact about Uggla: Almost 1 out of every 4 hits he has this year has been a HR.

Everything went right for the Braves that inning. Uggla's infield single, Uggla dodging the tag, the trap on the bunt. That inning could have easily been a 1-2 run inning.

Tommy Hanson has been such a freaking disappointment the last month. It is amazing that this team has a playoff spot with as piss poor as Heyward has done this year and poorly has Hanson has pitched lately. The guy is given a 5-2 lead and can't even get through the 4th inning.
